Welcome to the first in a nine-part series of articles where we indulge in a little bout of whimsy ahead of the NFL season!
What we have done is taken all eight of the divisions in the NFL and created a ‘super-squad’ of players from the four teams in that division.
We have rated each of the players picked for each squad and for fairness and uniformity, we have picked each of the eight squads and eight teams for the eight divisions in the same format.
There are also the same number of players in each position and the same positions for each squad and team.
Of course, this is just a flight of fancy ahead of the NFL season, but it would be hugely interesting to see what odds bet365 Sport would offer on the AFC East squad having a chance to beat all the other teams in the AFC, as well as the best the NFC has to offer too.

However, it is also a good barometer for judging the strength of the teams in each division, based on how many players they get through to the 53-man divisional squad and 26-man starters.
Let’s now take a look at the teams eligible to provide members for our hypothetical AFC East divisional squad and team.
AFC East
- Buffalo Bills
- Miami Dolphins
- New England Patriots

And let’s now recap the rules for the squad selection process.

Conclusion
This is a massively strong team from the AFC, which is not surprising given that there are four good or better teams in this division. I can’t imagine too many more divisions are going to have such strength in depth around the team.
Overall Team Rating – A-
This AFC East Divisional squad should be looking at winning the AFC Divisional Tournament and then going on to be strong contenders in the Divisional Superbowl!
Join me next time when we take a look at the squad and team made up from the four teams in the AFC North.
