Football is back, or at least the Bundesliga is and last weekend proved to be an exciting one for punters as all of the top teams saw action across the weekend and into Monday evening. For some, it was business as usual as the top teams generally recorded solid wins, while for others, getting back into action proved to be more of a struggle.

With more leagues gearing up for action over the next weekend, including those in Poland, Austria, Serbia, the Czech Republic, plus the top leagues in England, Spain and Italy all looking at a restart at some point in June, slowly but surely top class football is returning, much to the delight of football fans and punters alike.

If you would like to enjoy some fantastic betting on the second weekend of Bundesliga action since the restart, then you will need a site that offers great value betting pre-match, In Play and also which offers Live Streaming free (provided you have made a bet in the preceding 24 hours, or have a credit balance on your account). In addition, you need a great incentive to join which is why the current bet365 Sport New Player Bonus is the wise choice as becoming a member ticks all those boxes and more.

However, if you live in a part of the world where bet365 isn’t yet available, then there are some other alternatives open to you. If you live in a number of American states, including Iowa, West Virginia and Colorado, then the latest DraftKings Online Sports Book service is a fantastic option. Let’s now take a quick look at how things panned out last weekend in the Bundesliga with a review of the results so far (with one game pending, Monday night’s fixture between Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen).

Bundesliga Results – Matchday 26

  • Hoffenheim 0-3 Hertha Berlin
  • Augsburg 1-2 Wolfsburg
  • Dortmund 4-0 Schalke 04
  • Dusseldorf 0-0 Paderborn
  • Red Bull Leipzig 1-1 SC Freiburg
  • Frankfurt 1-3 Borussia Moenchengladbach
  • FC Cologne 2-2 Mainz
  • Union Berlin 0-2 Bayern Munich
  • Werder Bremen v Bayer Leverkusen – Kick off Monday 18th May – 7.30pm UK Time

Of the top six, only Red Bull Leipzig have dropped point so far after their 1-1 draw with Freiburg, meaning Borussia Moenchengladbach jumped above them into third and Leverkusen could cut the gap on them to one point with a win at Bremen this evening.

Bayern retain a four-point lead over Dortmund with Borussia two points further back in what looks like being an exciting end to the season.

The big movers at the bottom of the table were Hertha Berlin whose 3-0 away win at Hoffenheim saw them leap up the table from 14th to 11th. A point for Mainz at Cologne was a good one as it kept them four points clear of Dusseldorf in the relegation playoff spot.

Bundesliga Preview – Matchday 27

Hertha Berlin v Union Berlin

A rare Berlin derby for these two teams. Hertha produced the shock of the round last week with a 3-0 win away to Hoffenheim while Union were beaten at home by Bayern. I can see Hertha building on that win this week to record another much-needed win which will likely end any lingering threat of relegation if they can achieve it.

Tip – Hertha Berlin to win – 6/5

Borussia Moenchengladbach v Bayer Leverkusen

Two sides battling it out at the top of the table meet in the first of two huge games this week (Dortmund v Bayern takes place next Tuesday night). Both sides are well matched, but I think the deciding factor will be that leaky Leverkusen back line which just concedes too many goals against the top sides. I’m taking the home side here to land a narrow win.

Tip – Borussia Moenchengladbach to win – 7/5

Paderborn v TSG Hoffenheim

Both these teams will not be happy with their results last week. A draw for Paderborn against Dusseldorf was probably the result neither side wanted, but which was perhaps expected. Hoffenheim were well beaten at home by Hertha Berlin and will want a reaction to that here, I do think they will get it but only enough to record a point.

Tip – Draw – 14/5

SC Freiburg v Werder Bremen

Bremen will be desperate for a win here to try and give themselves a chance of staving off relegation but I can’t see that happening against a Freiburg side who were good value for their point in Leipzig last weekend. Back on home soil, I fancy them to put Bremen to the sword and record a comfortable win.

Tip – Freiburg to win – 27/20

VfL Wolfsburg v Borussia Dortmund

Ahead of their potentially season-defining game with Munich on Tuesday, Dortmund face a tricky trip to sixth placed Wolfsburg in what should be a cracking game on Saturday afternoon. Dortmund’s squad depth means I have them to snatch the win here, but it is going to be a real battle and I do feel Wolfsburg will do enough to find the net at least once.

Tip – Dortmund to win and both teams to score – 5/2

Bayern Munich v Eintracht Frankfurt

Bayern continued rolling along as if nothing had changed last week with a 2-0 win over Union Berlin. Frankfurt were well beaten by Borussia Moenchengladbach at home and I fear that they could well be in for an even bigger chasing at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. I feel Munich will win this game and win it by a considerable margin.

Tip – Bayern Munich to win to nil – 11/10

Schalke 04 v Augsburg

Two sides who were defeated last week. Schalke are in a real worrying run of form and the pressure is on David Wagner to pick up a result here against a side at the wrong end of the table. The problem is, I think Augsburg are in the better form of the two and certainly look more confident. As such, I am backing them to come away with a point from this trip.

Tip – Draw – 5/2

Mainz v Red Bull Leipzig

This is the game where I feel a shock could well be on the cards. Leipzig’s form continued to drop off last week with a disappointing 1-1 home draw with Freiburg and Mainz, who came back from 2-0 down against Cologne will have been buoyed by the nature of that comeback. Leipzig have two wins from their last eight and I think this is a great time for Mainz to play them and perhaps steal the win.

Tip – Mainz to win – 5/1

Cologne v Fortuna Dusseldorf

Cologne were in a great position to record a win last week, 2-0 up against Mainz but were hauled level and at the end were hanging on. They showed enough in that game to suggest that they can get a result here against a shot-shy Dusseldorf. I do see Cologne winning this one, but perhaps by a 2-1 scoreline.

Tip – Cologne to win and both teams to score – 12/5
