You may recall that last week we brought you details of how the Round of 16 games remaining in the Europa League and Champions League would be finalised across Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Well, now those games have been played and both competitions are now at the same spot, we are going to turn our focus away from the matches themselves and instead focus on which team is most likely to win the Europa League this season.

The new winners will inherit the title won comfortably by Chelsea in Baku last year where an Eden Hazard-inspired team ran out 4-1 winners over London rivals Arsenal. So with eight teams now remaining, who stands the best chance of success and who is worth backing with your own cash as the outright winner>

Let us now take a look at the eight teams remaining in the Europa League and their chances of success according to bet365’s latest odds, and we will also bring you the Quarterfinal draw for the games taking place on Monday and Tuesday, as well as the potential semi-final draws that could follow from those games.

Europa League Quarterfinal and Semifinal Draw

  1. Inter Milan v Bayer Leverkusen (Dusseldorf)
  2. Manchester United v Copenhagen (Cologne)
  3. Wolves v Sevilla (Duisburg)
  4. Shakhtar Donetsk v FC Basel (Gelsenkirchen)

Semifinal Draw

  1. Inter or Bayer Leverkusen v Shakhtar Donetsk or FC Basel (Cologne)
  2. Man Utd or Copenhagen v Wolves or Sevilla (Dusseldorf)

All ties are played at a neutral venue over one leg with extra time and penalties (if required) used to determine the winner in the event of a draw after 90 minutes.

What are the quarterfinalists chances of winning the tournament?

Inter Milan (10/3)

It says much about Inter’s recent performances in Europe that the three-times winners of this trophy (in 1991, 1994 and 1998) are ranked a lowly 45 by UEFA. However, after a strong second placed finish in Serie A under Antonio Conte, the Italians have knocked out Ludogorets and Getafe to reach the quarterfinal stage, the latter in a single leg tie played in Germany.

Packed with some star quality players including the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and the in-demand Lautaro Martinez, Inter have enough talent in their squad to win not just this game, but the tournament as a whole, but they will need to find their best form to justify their second favourite price at bet365.

Bayer Leverkusen (6/1)

The German side are a very talented team and have some outstanding players, including the much in demand Kai Havertz, This may well be the German youngsters last hurrah for the club with a move to Chelsea looking likely, but it could be a short one against a very talented Inter side in the quarterfinals.

Leverkusen are capable of beating Inter, but their problem is that the 23 ranked in the UEFA rankings side do blow hot and cold far too often. At their best they can beat anybody, as they showed in beating FC Porto and Rangers to reach this stage, but they will need to up their game against Inter and I am not sure they will be able to.

Manchester United (15/8 favourites)

After a solid end to the season, Manchester United qualified for the Champions League on the back of some solid league form after the restart and after winning Group L and then despatching Club Bruges (6-1 on aggregate) and then LASK Linz (7-1 on aggregate) it is easy to see why they are rated as genuine contenders for this title.

Bet365 have them as their favourites to win the trophy, something they achieved last in 2016/17 under Jose Mourinho, when defeating Ajax in the final. Blessed with some very talented players and the addition of Bruno Fernandes in midfield seems to have galvanised those players into much better and more consistent form, United look to have a great chance of at least reaching the final.

FC Copenhagen (66/1)

Ranked 38th by UEFA (compared to Manchester United’s 9th ranking) FC Copenhagen produced a fine display to knockout Istanbul Basaksehir in the last round, but their record against English teams is not the best. However, they did knockout Celtic in the Round of 32 before their win over Istanbul.

It is pretty clear from the calibre of teams that remains in this tournament that Copenhagen are the underdogs by quite some way and the fact that they would need to beat Manchester United and then either Wolves or Sevilla to reach the final, means that their high outsider odds of 66/1 are justified. In truth, I think the quarterfinals is as far as they will go against a United side that are in good form at the moment.

Wolves (13/2)

One of the success stories of the Premier League, Wolves success has been built on a number of foreign stars, notably Portuguese players, coming in and doing a great job for the Molineux outfit. They have blown a little hot and cold in the Europa League this season but they are a very talented team and one of the few that can match Sevilla for talent.

I do think this is a very close call and it is pretty much a coin toss between the two who will go through, but I am backing Wolves either in extra time or by penalties to make the semis and there Man Utd will most likely lie in wait, which could be a step too far.

Sevilla (11/2)

Five-time winners of this trophy and the most successful team in Europa League history, Sevilla have won every Europa League that they have reached the quarterfinals of which suggests they have a brilliant chance to do so once again here. They have been handed a tough draw though with two games likely against Wolves and Man Utd to reach the final.

I feel the game against Wolves will be very close and I think that it may well go to extra time or even penalties to decide the winner. History tends to show Sevilla come through these games, but I have sneaky feeling Wolves may get the job done here and hand the Spaniards a rare quarterfinal elimination.

Shakhtar Donetsk (14/1)

A side who romped to the Ukranian league title and who are in very good form at the moment. They strolled to a win over a decent Wolfsburg side in the last round and also beat Benfica on their way to this stage of the tournament, shading an exciting Round of 32 5-4 on aggregate.

Packed with Brazilian quality, I think Donetsk will come through the tie against FC Basel and get through to the semifinals where they will likely find Inter Milan awaiting them and that may be as far as they go.

FC Basel (33/1)

The Swiss side have knocked out APOEL Limassol and Eintracht Frankfurt this season both 4-0 on aggregate to reach the quarterfinals and their quality is shown by their 26th ranking in the UEFA list. They are capable of beating anyone on their day, but I think this is going to be a tough ask against Shakhtar Donetsk.

They have reached the semifinals of this tournament back in 2013, but I think that they will be fortunate if they manage to replicate that again this season.
