Well, the good news is that I’ve taken a good look at the new Joker Rush slot and you can see my findings about this exciting new slot below.
The theme of the Joker Rush slot is a little hard to fathom.
On the one hand, there is an obvious link with playing cards. We have the Joker symbol featuring prominently in the game, and there are also the four suits from a pack of cards, spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs on the reels too.
Yet, there’s other symbols in the game too, such as the Lucky 7 symbol, a stack of gold bars and single, double and treble Bar symbols, which have nothing to do with playing cards.
So, for me, the theme is more a retro-styled slot game, but the star of the show is undoubtedly the eponymous Joker symbol.
In terms of presentation, the slot is bright, easy on the eye and has nice sound effects and music while you play, all hallmarks of Playtech games which do tend to have some of the best presentation of all slots.
The animations are slick and a nice touch is when you have a chance at landing the trio of Jokers required to trigger the Free Spins bonus round, you get added dramatic music and the reels slow down to slowly reveal whether or not you land that third Joker you need.
Does Joker Rush have the wow-factor of some other slots? Probably not, but it keeps things nice, simple and easy to follow with easy to follow playability.

The final symbol on the reel is the Joker symbol, which appears on all five reels but which is also the main bonus feature in the base game.
As we mentioned above, the Joker symbol is the only bonus feature in the main game, and that is because the Joker is not just the Wild symbol in the base game, but it is also the Scatter symbol, being the trigger for the Free Spins bonus round.
Firstly, the Joker symbol can be landed across all five reels and if you do manage to land the Jokers across the reels on a pay line (together, or with the Lucky 7 symbols), then you will receive the following payouts.
The Joker can also be used as a standard Wild, completing winning lines for any of the nine standard symbols we have outlined above.
One slightly disappointing aspect of this is that you don’t get any special multiplier bonus for a Joker win.
In addition, the Joker also serves as a Scatter symbol in the game, and you need to land three, four or five of the symbols anywhere across the reels in order to trigger the Free Spins bonus.
It’s important to note that a Scatter trigger does not have to be on a win. You can land the Jokers in a non-winning pattern across the reels and provided you have three, four or five showing, then you will still trigger the Free Spins bonus game.
Joker’s Wild does have a Free Spins bonus round and the amount of Free Spins you receive is dependent upon the number of Joker symbols landed to trigger the bonus.
The key thing to note here is that during your Free Spins, any time you land one of the Joker symbols on the reels, it will freeze in that position for the remainder of your Free Spins bonus. This means that over your Free Spins, you can increase the number of Jokers held in position on the reels to offer you a better chance of both a win and a bigger value win.
Free Spins can’t be retriggered from the bonus round, and once your Free Spins bonus ends, the Jokers will be unfrozen from the reels and will be removed on your next standard spin in the game.
It is landing as many of these frozen Jokers on the reels during a Free Spins bonus round that is the main route to landing the higher value wins on the slot.
Higher volatility slots can sometimes miss the mark, being too punitive for players to really enjoy without offering the prospect of a decent return unless they are very, very lucky. Joker Rush doesn’t do that, treading the line between those bigger value wins and more regular lower value wins nicely.
