In the annals of NFL history, there have been remarkable athletes who have left their mark on the game. From swift-footed receivers to bone-crushing defenders, our NFL favorites have captured the hearts and imaginations of fans worldwide.
We're going to tell you a little more about these titans of the gridiron, exploring their unparalleled talents and accomplishments. With awe-inspiring athleticism, unwavering determination and unmatched skill sets, these are some of the greatest players to ever grace the field.
Now let's celebrate their enduring impact on the sport and their rightful place in the pantheon of NFL legends.
Inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999, Lawrence Taylor is a truly great player. Taylor spent all of his 12-year NFL career as a linebacker with the New York Giants. Incredibly, from 1984 through to 1990, he produced double-digit sacks every season. He peaked in 1986 with a 20.5 sack. And, unsurprisingly, he scooped Defensive Player of the Year three times during his career.
Even though he has so many impressive stats to his name, his true legacy lies with his playing style. Experts say he forever changed defensive game plans, with his trademark line blocking and offensive formations. For that reason, we'll always remember Lawrence Taylor.
One of our all-time NFL favorites has got to be Jimmy Brown. He's an old-school player, gaining entry to the Pro Football Hall of Fame way back in 1971. However, even though he dates back decades, his notoriety on the field is still fresh among NFL fans.
With a football career that kicked off in 1957, Brown was a proud Cleveland Browns man and is certainly one of the best running backs the sport has ever seen. In eight of the nine seasons the athlete played, he led the league in rushing yards. Want some stats? This player held records until his retirement, carrying the ball 2,3589 times for a total of 12.312 rushing yards and 106 touchdowns.
Jerry Rice will be forever associated with the San Francisco 49ers. Joining the team in 1985 after a glittering stint at Mississippi Valley State, Rice is a true legend. He went on to win three Super Bowls with the team and proudly played with them for an astonishing 15 years.
During his NFL career, he scored more points than any non-kicker in the history of the sport, finishing up with a 1,256 point total. Plus he also holds the record for most receiving yards, as well as the highest number of career receptions. And he's also the player to reach 100 touchdowns in the shortest time.
Although he's a 49er at heart, those with good memories will know Rice actually spent the last five years of his career playing with the Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks.
