Well, what a week it proved to be in the NFL. Week 14 saw some of the big guns show why they are rated as genuine Super Bowl winners in waiting, others were well-beaten, which raised question marks over their chances, while some of the teams with poorer records secured some big wins over teams with better records!

I think this underlines the fact that this season, there isn’t a true and clear best team in the NFL. There are teams that can lay claim to that so far this season, but there’s no clear-cut choice. And the gap between the best and the middling teams in the NFL is probably as small now as it has been for many years.

Of course, this is also the point of the season where we start to consider the playoffs, so this week I have added our playoffs tracker, which will let you know how we stand each week from now on in both the NFC and AFC, in terms of current seedings, who is in the hunt and who is out of the equation.

After this week’s games there are now just four games left to go of the regular season and the playoff race is incredibly tight.

NFL Week 14 Betting Performance From Last Week’s Tips

  • Winners (Season Total Winners) – 9 (125)
  • Losers (Season Total Losers)– 6 (67)

Not the greatest start to the weekend with two opening games on the list not coming in as I’d hoped and then Detroit failing once again against the Lions. After that though, it was good news all the way bar the Texans. But then on Monday night, surprise wins for the Titans and Giants saw me lose out in the final two games of the week.

NFL Week 14 Three Notable Performances – Team

  • Patriots Bite Back To Land Surprise Win At Struggling Steelers

I’ve been giving the New England Patriots some stick over the course of the season as they have been, by and large, dreadful. Well, it’s only fair to redress that balance a little after they earned an impressive win over the Steelers in Steel Town. Bailey Zappe had a solid game, connecting for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns with just one interception. Admittedly, they scored all the points in the first half and then hung on thanks to their defense, but after recent performances, this is a huge improvement.

  • Bills Keep Playoff Hopes Alive As Chiefs Drop To 8-5

Are the Buffalo Bills playing themselves into good form at just the right point of the season? They may have left it too late to reel in the Dolphins at the top of the AFC East, but they put the current Super Bowl holders to the sword in Kansas City to claim a massive win and move to 7-6. The Chiefs are now 8-5 and realistically look like they won’t enjoy home advantage in the playoffs unless something majorly weird happens in the AFC over the remaining four weeks.

  • Cowboys Slay The Eagles In Dominant Divisional Win

It wasn’t so much the Cowboys beat the Eagles, I had predicted that would happen after Philly were blown out by the 49ers last week, but it was the manner of the win for the Cowboys. Dak Prescott, by his own admission, didn’t have the best of games, but other players stepped up and they blew the Eagles away on offense and defense. Both teams are now 10-3 and it’s the Cowboys that have the momentum heading into the final four weeks of the season.

NFL Week 14 Worst Three Performances – Team

  • Chargers Have No Spark As Broncos Charge To East Win In L.A.

Considering this team was many people’s dark horses to be a Super Bowl contender this season, it has been nothing short of a dismal season in Los Angeles for the Chargers. Justin Herbert was knocked out of the game with a broken finger which didn’t help matters but the Chargers didn’t score when he was on the field and were well behind before Ekeler’s consolation TD. A season that promised so much is delivering so little.

  • Raiders Sink To New Low In Losing To Vikings

The fact that the Las Vegas Raiders lost to a team that scored a princely total of three points in the entire game, at home, kind of sums up what a season it has been in Sin City. Aidan O’Connell was hardly to blame, though the QB did throw one interception, but key fumbles, including one from Hunter Renfrow on the only drive they looked like scoring on, proved to be their downfall, together with an inability to sustain any drives at all. They punted four times in each half, then lost the ball on two fumbles and an interception on their other three drives. The Vikings dodged a bullet here.

  • Texans Fans Have A Week To Forget As Jets Power To Win

The New York Jets have not had too much to smile about this season, but they dismantled a very below par Texans on Sunday. Another scoreless first half, the first time since 1988 that this has happened gave way to a dominant second half from the Jets who racked up 30 points against a Texans defense that crumbled. However,  after Tank Dell’s broken leg last weekend, CJ Stroud’s injury this will be a bitter blow for the Texans if he was to miss any of the remaining weeks of the season.

NFL Week 14 Three Notable Performances – Individual

  • WR Deebo Samuel (49ers) – 7 receptions for 149 yards, 1 TD, 1 rush for 1 yard
  • TE David Njoku (Browns) – 6 receptions for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns.
  • QB Zach Wilson (Jets) – 27/36 for 301 yards and 2 touchdowns

Performers of the Week – NFL Week 14

  • Team – Dallas Cowboys
  • Offensive Player – TE David Njoku (Browns) – 6 receptions, 91 yards, 2 TD.

  • Special Teams Player – K Greg Zeuerlein (Jets) 3 XP and 3 FG
  • Rookie – LB – Ivan Pace Jr (Vikings) – 6 tackles, 6 assists, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 interception, 1 pass defensed
