Week Six saw the first set of bye weeks for teams and the positive sight of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back on the sideline for the Dolphins, although he did not play in their defeat last week to the Vikings.

We also saw a superb fightback win by the New York Giants, who came back to beat the Baltimore Ravens in New York to move to 5-1, just one game behind the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL this season, the 6-0 Philadelphia Eagles.

There was joy for the green half of the Big Apple too, as the New York Jets showed their qualities in a fantastic road victory over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, celebrating at the end of the game with Sauce Gardner walking off the field with one of the Packers iconic Cheese hats on his head.

In the two huge games this week, Josh Allen led the Bills to a key win over the Chiefs in Kansas City, while the Eagles maintained their 100% record by defeating the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday’s late game.

NFL Matchday 6 – Main Stories

QB Josh Allen Stars For Bills In Victory Over Chiefs – It was billed as a battle of the AFC following their exciting playoff clash last season and Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills gained a degree of revenge for that defeat when beating the Chiefs on Sunday. Allen played a superb game to lead this powerhouse Bills team to yet another defeat of a top AFC opponent. The Bills look the real deal.

Eagles Defeat Cowboys To Move To 6-0 – It is rare that you have an unbeaten team in the NFL after six weeks, that are the only unbeaten team in the league but who are still not top of the power rankings. This Eagles team is looking very talented though and the way they handed that pacy Dallas Cowboys defense was hugely impressive. They’ll play better on offense, but they still got the win and that’s the hallmark of a great team.

Jets Stun Packers To Land Huge Win At Lambeau – Remember early on in the season when the New York Jets seemed to be on the way to another ‘Jets’ season of despair? Well, scrub that as this Jets team now looks like being a genuine challenger in the AFC East. A superb win on the road at Lambeau Field against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers was richly deserved and keeps the Jets in touch with the Bills in the division.

Rookie QB Bailey Zappe Continues To Shine For Patriots – The quarterback issues at New England with Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer down have handed Bailey Zappe an unexpected opportunity and the rookie is taking it with both hands. Zappe played flawlessly in New England’s big win over the Browns this weekend and he is doing more than enough to hold onto his place in the team on present performances.

NFL Star Performers of the Week – Offense/ST

  • TE Mark Andrews (Ravens) – 7 receptions, 106 yards for 1 touchdown

  • WR Stefon Diggs (Bills) – 10 receptions for 148 yards and 1 touchdown
  • K Dustin Hopkins (Chargers) – 4/4 Field Goals, 1 extra point

NFL Star Performers Of The Week – Defense

  • Los Angeles Chargers – The Chargers defense came up big against the Broncos, keeping Russell Wilson from throwing a touchdown pass while sacking the former Seahawks Qb four times in the game.
  • New York Jets – A stunning effort from the Jets defense led by Quincy Williams, C.J.Moseley and Quinnen Williams saw them sack Aaron Rodgers four times and keep the Packers offense quiet in their superb win in Wisconsin this weekend.
  • Buffalo Bills – The Bills defense came up big at crucial moments in their AFC clash with the Chiefs. They interecepted Patrick Mahomes twice and sacked the quarterback three more times, with big summer signing Von Miller landing two of those crucial sacks to seal the win for the Bills.
  • Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings sacked the Miami Dolphins quarterback six times and also intercepted two passes that proved key in the Vikings success over the Dolphins this weekend, a win which moved them to 5-1 in the NFC North.
  • New England Patriots – The Patriots defense sacked Jacoby Brissett three times and intercepted the Browns quarterback twice to lay the foundations for their big win over Cleveland this past weekend.

NFL Rookies Of The Week

  • QB Bailey Zappe (Patriots) – 24/34 for 309 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions.
  • RB Breece Hall (Jets) – 116 rushing yards, 1 touchdown
  • RB Kenneth Walker (Seahawks) – 97 rushing yards, 1 touchdown
  • EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux (Giants) – 3 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble
  • CB Tariq Woolen (Seahawks) – 5 tackles, fumble recovery, interception
  • RB Brian Robinson (Commanders) – 60 rushing yards, 1 touchdown
  • CB Kaiir Elam (Bills) – 2 tackles, 1 interception

NFL Key Injuries

  • WR Randall Cobb (Packers) – Cobb could miss several games with a high ankle sprain.
  • TE Cameron Brate (Buccaneers) – Undergoing evaluation after being taken off the field against the Steelers.
  • QB Kenny Pickett (Steelers) – Pickett is in concussion protocol after being forced to come out of Sunday’s game.
  • QB Skylar Thompson (Dolphins) – Thompson picked up a thumb injury against the Vikings and could not return to action.
  • OT Joe Noteboom (Rams) – Could be out for a lengthy period with an Achilles injury.
  • OT Spencer Brown (Bills) – Picked up an ankle injury against the Chiefs and could not return.

NFL Bonehead Play of The Week

The Los Angeles Chargers paid a lot of money to secure J.C.Jackson from the New England Patriots in the off-season, but having made him one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, that decision is now looking worryingly poor.

Jackson has struggled in every game for the Chargers and he was benched at half time in the game with the Broncos after being responsible for two huge gains for the Broncos due to his poor play.

It wasn’t a great day either for Russell Wilson, who only managed 15 yards of passing in the second half of the game. J.C.Jackson’s poor play on two possessions may be the bonehead play of the week, but the corner is lucky his team managed to bounce back to recover from it to land the win.
