bet365 football player props: markets, statistics and UK settlement rules

A football player prop is a bet on an individual player’s performance, rather than the match result. At bet365, the market name, required statistic and settlement rules matter as much as the player’s name. A shot is not necessarily a shot on target, and a player market need not cover the same period as a team-statistics bet.

This guide covers UK football markets. It explains how to read a selection and the rules that can affect it; it does not offer picks, live prices or a strategy for making a profit.

Read the statistic and threshold together

bet365’s UK football statistics rules list player markets including goalscorers, shots, shots on target, assists, passes, tackles, fouls, bookings and goalkeeper saves. That list is not a promise that every option is available on every fixture.

For a count-based selection, distinguish “2 or more” from “over 2.5”. The first is satisfied by two; the second requires at least three. This is an illustrative reading of thresholds, not a quoted bet365 market or price. Check the actual label rather than assuming all alternatives use the same line.

Shots and shots on target are different

The UK settlement help page explains that shots include on-target attempts, off-target attempts and blocked shots. Shots on target include goals, goalkeeper saves from on-target attempts and last-line defensive blocks that prevent a goal. Woodwork alone is not a shot on target unless the ball subsequently enters the goal.

For example, one saved on-target attempt, one attempt wide and one ordinary blocked attempt describe three shots but only one shot on target. This hypothetical example shows why a total-shots selection cannot be checked against a shots-on-target total.

The same help page defines an assist as the final team-mate touch leading to a goal, subject to its exclusions. It defines a tackle as a legal ground-level challenge that takes the ball from an opponent in controlled possession. A tackle attempt or a television commentator’s description is not necessarily the recorded event used for settlement.

Check the playing period and starting requirement

The football statistics rules say match and team statistics settle after 90 minutes. Their listed player-match markets include extra time if played. Do not transfer the team-statistics period to a player selection, or confuse extra time with stoppage time added to a half. Read the period shown for the exact market.

In that rules section, a selected player who does not start makes the relevant bet void, with an exception for competitions using rolling substitutions, such as the Baller Leagues and Kings League. This is a market-specific rule, not a statement that every bet involving a player uses identical participation conditions.

What changes under Sub On Play On?

According to the UK Sub On Play On help page, selected pre-match player bets bearing its icon can continue with the replacement player after a substitution, at unchanged odds. Eligible Bet Builders also qualify. It does not apply once the selection’s outcome was already determined, or where the bet was cashed out before the substitution.

The help page says qualifying football bets can include extra time when labelled; penalty shootouts are excluded. The icon and applicable terms are essential: this is not a blanket refund for an injury or a guarantee that a player selection will win. Player selections inside Bet Builder

bet365’s UK Bet Builder guide explains that selections are combined from the same fixture and that their relationships affect the combined price. A player’s goal and their team winning are not independent events, so multiplying separate displayed prices is not a reliable way to reconstruct a Bet Builder quote.

That guide distinguishes selected pre-match player-market voids, which can lead to recalculation, from other void or push selections, which can void or push the whole bet. Checking a settled selection

Keep the precise market label, threshold, period, player and bet reference. Compare the settlement against the official rules and the specified statistics source, not an unrelated app’s total. bet365’s settlement help explains that corrections to Opta statistics are reviewed by its trading team.
