Last week,
Chris Moneymaker shocked the poker world by announcing that
he had inked a deal with
Americas Cardroom, an illegal cardroom that poker pros in the United States hate but keep coming back to.
Upon hearing the news,

Moneymaker and ACR renegotiate contract
After realizing the gravity of his mistake, Moneymaker reportedly requested that ACR sweeten the deal to account for damage to his reputation. Moneymaker first asked ACR if he could go The Isilidur route and do the “silhouette thing” in advertisements in order to protect himself against publicly associating with the illegal site.
But that idea was unfortunately rejected by the guy that does all of ACR's
marketing,
customer service, and
poker bot detection (the same guy is also the company's
general counsel and
CFO).
This idea was nixed by the Americas Cardroom marketing team guy.
Following days of exhaustively renegotiating the contract, Americas Cardroom and Moneymaker settled on a deal that neither could refuse. Americas Cardroom gets the services of one of the world's most beloved poker players, and Moneymaker gets a guaranteed 3-year, 20,000 cheeseburger contract and the emotional security that comes from being well-fed through 2023.
