Each Way Extra Betting at bet365 Sport is a fantastic option for punters. Especially for those that enjoy the added flexibility that each way betting gives you.
In this article, I'm taking a look at Each Way Extra betting options for golf. There are loads of routes to go down, but I'm going to focus in particular on the different options available when there's a top golf tournament like the Majors in progress.
Of course, you'll need to be a bet365 Sport customer to take advantage of these offers. To do that, simply follow the link to sign up with the site. Then remember to use the bet365 bonus code BET247 when you do!
There are so many reasons why punters like bet365 for golf betting. The site has a huge a selection of features that make betting on golf easier, more flexible and more fun. And let's face it, that's why we all do it, right?
One of these is the Live Golf Tracker service, which is available for many non-major tournaments each year.
However, the advantages of Each Way Extra betting are often overlooked. But that's not your fault. You see, it's not stated as an overt feature or promotion on the site, so it's easy to miss.
And that would be a great shame for golf betting fans and here’s why…
First I'm going to clarify what exactly Each Way Extra betting at bet365 means. Specifically in this case, for golf (although it's available for a few other sports too, most notably horse racing).
In terms of golf, Each Way Extra betting gives you the chance to be more flexible with your each way bets.
So for starters, this is how a standard Each Way bet works at bet365 Sport…
There are three key parts of a standard each way golf betting market:
Now, each way bettors know that this type of bet is made up of two betting lines. The first part of the bet covers the To Win market and the second part of the bet stake covers the Place part of the bet.
This is why a £10 each way bet costs £20. As two-unit stakes (£10) are required to cover both parts of the bet. (£10 on the selection to win, £10 on the selection to place).
Like we said before, Each Way Extra Betting gives you flexibility than a standard each way bet. And it does this by modifying a number of factors.
Essentially, bet365 offers you a trade-off. You can select the standard each way bet (which pays out for the top 3 places including ties). And you'll get the standard odds offered on the golfer to win the event.
But you can also increase the number of places that will pay out. If you do that, the odds on that golfer to win will decrease.
Some of the common Each Way Extra options on golf majors include:
Keep in mind that options with 8-12 place payouts have reducing odds.
So with Each Way Extra in golf, you can choose to trade off some of the odds to get more paying places on the bet, or you can reduce the number of paying places to get better odds on your selection.
And this all raises some interesting questions…
As bettors, we want value, so finding value in a bet is important. Judging what is the right number of places to be paid out, combined with the odds on a selection, is key to getting better value returns and making better value bets.
In my view, it is the odds of the selection that decides what's the best value Each Way Extra option for you, rather than the player or the number of places.
So imagine Golfer A has standard odds of 5.00 to win the tournament, with each way paying out at 1/5 of those odds on the top three places.
Here's how the odds can shift with Each Way Extra bets…
Each Way Market | Odds | Total Return If Golfer A Wins | Profit / Loss | Total Return If Golfer A Places | Profit / Loss |
E/W 1/5 1-3 | 5.00 | £68 | £48 | £18.00 | -£2.00 |
E/W 1/5 1-8 | 3.60 | £51.20 | £31.20 | £15.20 | -£4.80 |
E/W 1/5 1-10 | 3.50 | £50 | £30 | £15 | -£5.00 |
E/W 1/5 1-12 | 3.30 | £47.60 | £27.60 | £14.60 | -£5.40 |
Here you can see that the relatively short odds on Golfer A means that if she doesn’t win the event, then you are going to make a loss, no matter which option you select. In this case, taking the standard Each Way option of E/W 1/5 for first to third places makes the most sense.
But if we then compare this with making the same bet but on Golfer B instead, that changes the value offered in the Each Way Extra markets significantly.
Each Way Market | Odds | Total Return If Golfer B Wins | Profit / Loss | Total Return If Golfer B Places | Profit / Loss |
E/W 1/5 1-3 | 41.00 | £500 | £480 | £90 | £70 |
E/W 1/5 1-8 | 23.00 | £284 | £264 | £54 | £34 |
E/W 1/5 1-10 | 21.00 | £260 | £240 | £50 | £30 |
E/W 1/5 1-12 | 19.00 | £236 | £216 | £46 | £26 |
Here you can see that regardless of which option you go for, Golfer B guarantees you a profit of between £216 and £480 if she wins the tournament and a profit of between £26 and £70 if she finishes in one of the stated places.
In this case, the difference in payouts is such that maybe taking the options that offer a higher number of position payouts is the better option here in terms of maximising your chances of a profit.
So you can see clearly in these examples that the odds on your chosen golfer directly influence the best value bet for you to make on the Each Way Extra market.
And the general rule of thumb is that the longer the odds on the golfer, it's more beneficial to place an Each Way Extra bet with more paying places. Then with shorter the odds on the golfer, you're better off with fewer paying places on your Each Way Extra Bet.
The good news is that bet365 Sport offers Each Way Extra betting on a massive choice of golf tournaments around the world. This includes events on the USPGA, European Tour and the Women’s Tour, as well as the four Majors.
In fact, bet365 Sport has Each Way Extra betting for payouts on the top 8 and 10 players on all four Majors throughout the year. And if you need a little reminder, here's when each Major takes place:
For standard tournaments on tour, Each Way Extra betting is available a few days before the tournament begins.
You can find Each Way Extra prices in the dedicated section at bet365 or when you select a tournament and click on a golfer. If you go navigate through the tournament, you'll see their odds to win outright, as well as their Each Way Extra odds, plus odds on finishing in the top five or top 10.
Alright, so Each Way Extra really is a fantastic way to bet on golf tournaments. It gives you a great balance between risk and reward. The extra flexibility you have to select the number of paying places shouldn't be underestimated. Having said that, it's not always the best option for all bets so take a look at those odds first.
As sports betting goes, these are easily one of my favourite bets and one that has paid out some excellent returns over the years. Hopefully this guide gives you the confidence to try them out too and fingers crossed you get lucky with the ones you pick!
