One of the great things about the NFL is that in any given week, we are capable of seeing some big upsets. Check out our NFL betting tips for more news on that!

This week, we saw plenty of examples of that with a number of the unfancied teams earning wins against teams that they would not be expected to beat.

We also saw some of the more fancied teams from pre-season earn their first win of the season, while others are still waiting for that after a miserable start that has seen them lose all three games.

Let’s now review what happened in week three, before giving you our set of week four NFL betting tips and preview for the week four action.

Remember, all odds shown and quoted in this article for our NFL betting tips were correct at the time of writing and were available at bet365 Sport.

NFL Betting Tips Performance From Last Week

  • NFL Betting Tips Winners (Season Total Winners) – 11 (23)
  • NFL Betting Tips Losers (Season Total Losers)–  5 (9)

Another excellent week for our NFL Betting tips with 11 out of the 16 coming in and of those that missed there were three shock results where a much fancied team lost to supposedly far weaker opposition.

I’ll be looking forward to continuing this great start to the season with this week’s set of NFL Betting tips which you will find later in the article.

Three Notable Performances – Team

  • Dolphins Annihilate Broncos Racking Up 70 points.

The record for points scored by a team in a single NFL game is 73. On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins could have bettered this in their 70-20 thrashing of the Broncos. It was a stunning offensive display by the Dolphins who had two players score four touchdowns apiece, as well as five passing and five rushing touchdowns on the day. It is rare to see an NFL team score 50 points or more. You may not see a team more than 70 for a very long time, so rare is this achievement.

  • Defensive Injuries Mount As Dallas Stumble To Shock Loss At Cardinals

The script was written. The Dallas Cowboys would go to Arizona and turn over the winless Cardinals relatively easily. Only it didn’t go that way. After two spineless performances in their opening two games, the Cards found another set of gears to defeat the Cowboys comfortably. With Travon Diggs injured, Micah Parson’s injury is a huge blow for the Cowboys if he is to be out for any extended period. Not even a defense as good as Dallas’ can cope with a loss of two such key figures.

  • Texans Produce Superb Performance In Divisional Win Over Jaguars

This was to be a yardstick game for Texans, to see how much they needed to improve to catch the Jaguars. Well, that gap looks to be closing very rapidly on the evidence of this stunning win for Houston. Led by rookies CJ Stroud, Will Anderson Jr and Tank Dell, the Texans not only got the better of the Jags on offense, but their defense also kept the Jaguars offense on their toes the entire game. Their win was fully deserved but the key question is, can they now repeat this level of performance from now on?

Worst Three Performances – Team

  • Huge Questions For Sean Payton After Broncos Embarrassing Loss

Any loss puts a certain amount of pressure on an NFL Head Coach, but a 70-20 blowout will have alarm bells ringing in Colorado for Sean Payton. His Broncos surrendered 351 yards on the ground and 376 yards in the air, as well as conceding ten touchdowns. It was a game that will have Dolphins fans believing their team is Super Bowl ready, while the Broncos fans will be wondering if the season could get any worse. Had the Dolphins pushed it, they could have bettered the NFL record of 73 points scored in a game, but many of their backups were in the game for the fourth quarter. I picked the ‘phins last week in my NFL betting tips, but didn’t expect such a big win.

  • Toothless Titans Surrender To Meek Defeat In The Dog Pound

Mike Vrabel’s press conference on Monday saw the coach barely hide his anger at the Titans dismal efforts in their 27-3 defeat at the Cleveland Browns. A timid display on offense saw Myles Garrett dominate the Titans offensive line, while the Titans much-vaunted defense once again struggled against Deshaun Watson. The Titans have lost 9 of their last 10 going back to last season and performances like this are precisely why. It’s also why they were an easy pick to lose in last week’s NFL betting tips.

  • Vikings Woes Continue As Chargers Inflict Demoralising Defeat

The Minnesota Vikings season went from bad to worse this week. Once again their stuttering offense couldn’t find enough points to land the win, their defence struggled against the Chargers and perhaps worst of all, key wide receiver Justin Jefferson looks to have picked up a nasty injury that could rule him out for some time. After a 24-28 loss, the Vikes are now 0-3 in a division they won last season and a year after they were 9-1 heading into Week 11.

Three Notable Performances – Individual

  • RB De’Von Achane (Dolphins) 18 carries, 203 yards, 2 touchdowns, 4 passes for 30 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Dolphins 3rd round pick from this year’s draft had a career day against the bewildered Broncos. He not only racked up 203 yards from just 18 carries, adding another 30 yards receiving from four passes, but he also landed two rushing and two passing touchdowns. In truth, you could have added QB Tua Tagovailoa, WR Tyreek Hill and RB Raheem Mostert in with Achane given how superior the Dolphins offense was but those numbers are special, especially for a rookie playing his first game.

  • QB CJ Stroud (Texans) 20/30, 280 yards and 2 touchdowns, 3 rushes for 14 yards

If there was any debate about whether the Texans made the right call in drafting Stroud second in this year’s NFL Draft, it is now over. Stroud produced his best display of his rookie season so far in leading the Texans to an unexpected win on the road against a team rated by many as their strongest divisional rival. With chemistry developing between Stroud and rookie Tank Dell (who caught 5 passes for 145 yards and a TD), Texans fans are starting to see the future of the franchise and it looks brighter than it has done for many a year.

  • LB Terrel Bernard (Bills) 5 tackles, 2 assists, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, one interception, one pass defensed

The Bills offense may have led them to a comfortable win over the Commanders this week, but on defense Terrel Bernard was exceptional, leading the team in sacks, tackles for a loss and tackles and assists. Add to that an interception and a pass defensed and it is not hard to see why the young linebacker is starting to look a key part of this Bills defensive unit.

Performers of the Week – Week Three

  • Team – Miami Dolphins
  • Offensive Player – QB Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins) – 23/26 for 309 yards and 4 touchdowns
  • Defensive Player – OLB Kyzir White (Cardinals) – 7 tackles, 6 assists, 1 Tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed, 1 interception
  • Special Teams Player – K Matt Gay (Colts) – 5 field goals, including overtime winner, 1 extra point.
  • Rookie – RB De’Von Achane (Dolphins) – 18 carries, 203 yards, 2 touchdowns, 4 passes for 30 yards and 2 touchdowns.
