Understand how random inputs map to slot outcomes, what Great Britain’s testing standards require and why RTP is not a personal refund or proof that a win is due.

RNG means random number generator. In an online slot, random inputs feed the game’s rules to produce outcomes. That explains a mechanism; it does not prove that any particular website, logo or game version operates correctly. Fairness requirements and evidence of compliance are different things.
The Gambling Commission’s RTS 7 standard requires acceptably random outcomes, unpredictable output and mapping consistent with the game’s probabilities and paytable. It prohibits adaptive behaviour that changes outcome probabilities during play, while allowing properly described features with their own rules.
Uniform RNG output does not mean every slot symbol or prize has an equal chance. The mapping between random inputs and game outcomes matters. Nor does the standard say that software is impossible to tamper with; a requirement is not a technical impossibility or proof about a specific operator.
Imagine a paper-only model with ten equally likely numbered tickets. Nine tickets pay nothing; one pays five units. Each draw costs one unit and replaces the ticket before the next draw. The numbers have equal chances, but the two payout outcomes do not: one pays, nine do not.
The expected payout per draw is (9 × 0 + 1 × 5) ÷ 10 = 0.5 units. Against a one-unit cost, that is a hypothetical 50% return. This deliberately simplified model is not a slot, a bet365 price or a claim about any live game. A previous losing draw does not change the next draw’s one-in-ten chance in this defined replacement model.
The Commission’s testing approach distinguishes statistical RNG analysis from checking game mathematics, source code and gameplay. Its table specifies approved third-party testing for those components before release.
That is why a badge alone does not establish what a test covered. Check the named test house, product version and report scope if somebody cites a certificate; do not treat an image copied onto a website as evidence you have verified.
In its live RTP monitoring guidance, the Commission explains that faults can escape testing or deployment checks. Operators must monitor performance after release. A single measurement outside a tolerance does not itself confirm a defective RNG; volatility and the volume of observed play affect the comparison.
The same guidance separates theoretical RTP, the designed figure, from actual RTP measured as prizes divided by total stakes over a period. Re-staked winnings count towards turnover. Neither figure promises that one person will recover a stated share of a deposit in a short session.
A streak of losses is not a reason to assume that a compensating win is due. Do not keep spending to make an advertised percentage appear in your own results. Game features can have stated conditions, so read the actual rules rather than assuming every feature is a fresh independent draw identical to the base game.
Read the exact game’s help screen for its rules, paytable, RTP and feature conditions. Keep the name, version and transaction details if you need to ask the operator about a disputed outcome. This page does not independently certify bet365’s games, name a currently tested supplier or quote an actual slot’s RTP.
BCP’s scatter-symbol explanation covers a separate game-rule term. The gambling-support guide offers support information if continuing to play has become difficult. Understanding random outcomes does not remove the cost or risk of gambling.
