While three of the four English representatives in the Champions League landed victories on Matchday 1, Manchester United went down to a 2-1 defeat to Young Boys in Switzerland. The Red Devils had taken the lead but after Aaron Wan Bissaka’s sending off, Young Boys scored two late goals after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had substituted Cristiano Ronaldo from the action, to clinch the win.

That does heap the pressure on United this week ahead of their game with Villarreal on Wednesday. The match will be a repeat of the Europa League Final last season, which Villarreal won 11-10 on penalties after the two teams drew 1-1.

That game is just one of 16 set to take place this week which includes a number of massive games for English clubs, as well as a few other clashes of European giants.

There are a total of 16 games taking place across Tuesday and Wednesday evening in the competition. We are now going to go through each one and give you our correct score prediction (with odds) for each of those games, including of course, Manchester United’s now crucial clash with Villarreal on Wednesday.

Champions League Matchday 2 – Correct Score Tips

Tuesday 28th September

  • Ajax Amsterdam v Besiktas (5.45pm)

Besiktas were beaten at home by Dortmund on Matchday 1, while Ajax smashed five past Sporting in Lisbon in what was arguably the performance of the round. The Dutch side should be confident of picking up another three points here against a Turkish side who tend not to travel particularly well and I’d be surprised of the home team don’t win this by a couple of goals.

Correct Score Prediction – Ajax 2-0 Besiktas (11/2)

  • Shakhtar Donetsk v Inter Milan (5.45pm)

Donetsk are a tough team to get the better of away from home, even though they play their home games in Kyiv. Inter though need something from this game after losing their opener at home to Real Madrid and I think that this will see them produce a cagier performance here, though I do think the home side will have enough to perhaps grab a goal and take a point from the game.

Correct Score Prediction – Shakhtar Donetsk 1-1 Inter Milan (15/2)

  • AC Milan v Atletico Madrid

AC Milan were hammered in terms of possession at Anfield but still only lost 3-2, while Atletico were held by FC Porto. However, I think the Spanish team are more dangerous away from. home in these type of games and I think the extra experience they have, combined with the fact that Milan’s defence looked shaky, means that they may just do enough to take the win here.

Correct Score Prediction – AC Milan 0-1 Atletico Madrid (7/1)

  • Borussia Dortmund v Sporting Lisbon

After being thumped by Ajax at home, Sporting now face the unenviable task of taking on a freescoring Dortmund side in Germany. With Haaland leading the line and looking like he is not going to slow down his goalscoring exploits any time soon, this could be a long and difficult evening for the Portuguese team.

Correct Score Prediction – Borussia Dortmund 3-0 Sporting Lisbon (17/2)

  • FC Porto v Liverpool

FC Porto started well with a draw away to Atletico Madrid, but they now face a Liverpool team that have won 5-0 and 4-1 on their last two visits to the Estadio do Dragao. The Reds were held at the weekend by a spirited Brentford, but they have scored three goals in each of their last five games and if they can do that once again here, then they should be a lock in for a second win in a tough group.

Correct Score Prediction – FC Porto 1-3 Liverpool (12/1)

  • Paris St Germain v Manchester City

Arguably the two best, and wealthiest teams, in the world clash again in a repeat of last year’s semifinal which Manchester City won both legs of. City may find things tougher with the likes of Messi, Donnarumma and Hakimi in the team now alongside Neymar but I still think the English Champions are more than good enough to get a decent result here, even if that is a share of the spoils.

Correct Score Prediction – Paris St Germain 2-2 Manchester City (10/1)

  • Red Bull Leipzig v Club Brugge

Red Bull did score three away to Manchester City, but they also conceded six, which has been an issue for them this season. Club Brugge earned a good point in an excellent performance at home to Paris St Germain in their first game, but I think on the road in Germany will be tough for them and I think Leipzig will pick up their first win of the Group Stage in this one.

Correct Score Prediction – Red Bull Leipzig 2-0 Club Brugge (7/1)

  • Real Madrid v Sheriff Tiraspol

A good win away at Inter Milan means that Real Madrid are far better set in this group than they were last year after a couple of games. I expect them to add to their points total with three more here against a Sheriff side that did superbly well to beat Shakhtar Donetsk in their opener but who I think will struggle on the road against the 13-time winners of this tournament.

Correct Score Prediction – Real Madrid 3-0 Sheriff Tiraspol (5/1)

Wednesday 29th September

  • Atalanta v Young Boys (5.45pm)

I think given the nature of both these teams, we will see an attacking and open game between them with a few goals going in at each end. However, I think Atalanta’s better attacking quality and experience, allied to the fact that they are playing at home, will be the reason that they edge out Young Boys here.

Correct Score Prediction – Atalanta 3-2 Young Boys (20/1)

  • Zenit St Petersburg v Malmo (5.45pm)

Zenit put up a very gutsy display away to Chelsea and only went down by a single goal. Malmo were well beaten at home by Juventus in their opener and I think they may well be on the end of a similar reverse here. Zenit will be looking to boost their goal difference here and if they can get an early goal, I think that is very much on the cards.

Correct Score Prediction – Zenit St Petersburg 4-0 Malmo (20/1)

  • Bayern Munich v Dynamo Kyiv

This should be a relatively straightforward evening’s work for Bayern Munich. Having seen of Barcelona 3-0 in the Nou Camp, they should pick up a very comfortable maximum points here against a Kyiv side that will be hoping to keep the score down to a respectable amount, but with Lewandowski and co in great form, I am not so sure they’ll be able to achieve that.

Correct Score Prediction – Bayern Munich 5-0 Dynamo Kyiv (10/1)

  • Benfica v Barcelona

Benfica have made a superb start to their domestic season, in stark contrast to Barcelona who have been struggling. A 3-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich has put them under real pressure here against a side that have not been beaten at home this season. I think Benfica may well be able to extend that with a very surprising win here over the Catalan giants.

Correct Score Prediction – Benfica 1-0 Barcelona (10/1)

  • FC Salzburg v Lille

Draws against Sevilla and Wolfsburg means all these teams head into Matchday 2 all square in the group and in truth, I think this will be another keenly fought and close contest. Red Bull will feel home advantage helps them here, but Lille are a strong side and on their day are capable of beating the top teams. As such, I think this will be the third draw in what will be a very tight group.

Correct Score Prediction – FC Salzburg 1-1 Lille (6/1)

  • Juventus v Chelsea

After a poor start to the Serie A season, Juventus got back on track with a 3-0 win in Malmo onBet365 Casino early Payout Matchday 1. Chelsea were unbeaten until the weekend when Man City defeated them 1-0 at Stamford Bridge and as such, while I was thinking about backing a Chelsea win here, I think that a draw is, on reflection, probably the most likely outcome.

Correct Score Prediction – Juventus 1-1 Chelsea (11/2)

  • Manchester United v Villarreal

A repeat of last season’s Europa League Final, which Villarreal won on penalties after a 1-1 draw. United badly need a win here, but in the five previous games played against Villarreal, all have ended as a draw after 90 minutes. This time though with Cristiano Ronaldo and on the back of a poor run of results, United must step up and I think they will, though Villarreal will make it tough.

Correct Score Prediction – Man Utd 2-1 Villarreal (7/1)

  • Wolfsburg v Sevilla

Wolfsburg lost their unbeaten record in the Bundesliga at the weekend when they were well beaten by Hoffenheim, and I think there could be a hangover from that game heading into this. They have not won since drawing with Lille on Matchday 1, while Sevilla are still unbeaten in La Liga and after a draw with Salzburg, I am backing the Spaniards to pick up a narrow win here.

Correct Score Prediction – Wolfsburg 0-1 Sevilla (8/1)
