The bet365 Bet Builder utility is one that has offered customers a chance to place accumulator bets on a single sporting fixture.
However, using the Bet Builder to put together bets can be tricky. Not in terms of how to use it, that is extremely easy to do, but in terms of deciding which of the myriad of markets available to you to put together in a bet that stands a better chance of success.
So, what we have done is put together a list of ten of the best Bet Builder tips that will enable you to get the most out of the option, especially if taking advantage of the Bet365 free bet (as a UK customer).
As is the case with other accumulator or multiple selection bets, there is an art to putting together Bet Builder bets to ensure that you give yourself as much chance as possible of landing a win.
So if you are with bet365 Sport and want to learn a bit more about Bet Builder and some strategies to try and land more winners, then check our out top ten Bet Builder tips today!
The best Bet Builder bets are always built. Upon more than just gut feeling or picking a bet to back randomly from those available. Research is the key to unlocking which options from those available are the best ones for you to back.
For example, if you place a bet builder bet on a Wolves v Arsenal game and this includes the Both Teams to Score option, then, at the time of writing, only 26% of Wolves games and 32% of Arsenal’s have seen both teams score.
So the better option to back here would be the Both Teams to Score – No option. But, you can only find this out by doing a bit of research on the game you are going to bet on.
One of the great things about bet builder bets is that there are a large number of markets available for you to pick from and each of these markets has a number of options available to you.
Common sense dictates that if you go for a market that can have multiple outcomes, such as picking a player to score a goal for their team, then the odds on you picking the right option here are far less than a market that has just two or three options, say such as the Half With Most Goals option.
By sticking to markets with fewer potential outcomes, your chances of picking the right option are increased, especially if you have researched your bets as suggested in tip 1.
Many people discount the very short-priced options on Bet Builder bets, feeling that it is not really worth adding them to your bet. I mean, there’s not much point risking £12 to land just £1 is there?
Well yes there is, if each time you gave me £12, I gave you £13 back, you’d keep doing it wouldn’t you?
Remember too, that Bet Builder bets are accumulators, so even if you have a selection that is heavily odds on, if all your other bets win then the amount you will be staking on that particular selection may be a great deal more than your original stake.
A 1/10 selection for a £1 stake would only pay you £1.10, but if you have wagered that stake up to £100, then that is an extra £10. So even those shorter priced selections can be great value when added to a Bet Builder selection.
Another great tip, which is kind of the opposite of tip 3, is to look for bets that offer great value in some of the less commonly used markets.
In Soccer Bet Builder bets, this may be in the Player Card markets, where you can bet on a player receiving a yellow or red card. Red card bets are especially attractive given their long odds but I would recommend that betting on this market is very much dependent on the fixture, context and knowing the players and any history they have with their opponents team or players.
The Team Specials section is another good one for picking up good value bets to add to your slip, but again, the more research you have done, the better you will be at picking the value options here.
This may be more a personal choice, but I do not like the ‘scattergun’ approach to Bet Builder betting. I much prefer placing one well-researched, balanced and solid Bet Builder bet for, say a £5 stake, than placing five £1 bet builder bets on a less researched and more randomly selected number of markets.
For one thing, it is much easier to track the progress of just one bet builder bet, than several, especially if you are not at your PC or on your mobile while the game is in progress.
That makes betting not just easier to follow, but I believe more enjoyable as you can enjoy seeing how your selections pan out in real time.
Sometimes in sporting contests, things can happen right at the last minute that can have a dramatic impact on the chances of the fixture going the way you want it.
There’s nothing worse than placing your bet on, say a Wednesday for the weekend and having, say, Cristiano Ronaldo to score anytime for your team, only to hear on Saturday that he picked up an injury in training and will miss the game, or start on the substitutes bench.
As such, a great tip is always to try and place your Bet Builder bets in the last hour before a game starts as by then, you will know the line-up for both teams and this can have an impact on what bets are the most appealing and likely to win.
Remember, you can’t use Edit Bet with Bet Builder bets, so once your bet is placed, you won’t have an opportunity to change it if late team news threatens to scupper your bet before the game starts.
When bet365 initially offered its Bet Builder service, it was for soccer betting initially. However, over time, the company has now rolled out the service across other sports.
This increases your options when it comes to Bet Builder betting, and as such, it is well worth checking out some of these other sports and fixtures to see whether you can find a better value or more appealing Bet Builder bet here.
You can bet pre-game and In Play using the Bet Builder option on selected Soccer, Basketball and Tennis fixtures, while you can also place pre-game Bet Builder bets on NFL (American Football) and Australian Rules games too.
When bet365 released Bet Builder, the maximum number of selections you could make on a Bet Builder bet was six. However, bet365 has now doubled that number to 12, meaning you can string many more selections together on the same Bet Builder bet if you so wish.
However, that doesn’t mean you should always use the maximum number. The greater the number of selections on your Bet Builder, then the less chance you have of seeing the bet land a winner.
As such, you want to find a sweet spot between the number of selections and the value you are getting for your bet, allied to making the selections that you think have the best chance of success. What that number of selections is, is very much dependent on the odds on offer on each of the markets and the fixture itself.
There’s no universal rule here, you should always use your judgement on when you think your Bet Builder has enough selections, whether that is the minimum number of three, or the maximum of 12.
If you are a novice to Bet Builder bets, then one great way to enjoy this type of bet and to piggy back on the knowledge of other punters is to use the Popular Bets options shown on the Bet Builder page.
When these bets are shown, these are the bets that have been popular with other punters on the site, which means that more people believe this bet has a chance of success.
So if you are a novice Bet Builder and don’t have time to research your bet fully, then this option is a great way to back a bet that others may well have researched as being good value.
The Bet Boost options are different in that these are Bet Builder bets that have had their odds boosted in value from the standard amount, to make them more appealing to customers.
With both these options, simply click on the odds to add the selected Bet Builder bet to your bet slip and you can then place the bet direct from your slip without having to add the individual selections yourself.
The final tip is a key one to enjoy long term Bet Builder betting and that is to be realistic in your expectations when it comes to winning with these type of bets.
Bet Builder bets are a form of accumulator bet and as such, they are like other bets of this type in that they can be very difficult to hit, even if you have the minimum number of selections on your bet slip.
As such, you should not expect to win these bets frequently (unless you are very, very lucky!).
However, the flip side of this is that if you do win a Bet Builder bet, then the winnings can be larger, occasionally much larger, than backing a standalone fixed odds bet.
Retain realistic expectations, bet responsibly and you will enjoy Bet Builder bets for the foreseeable future!
