How bet365 Best Odds Guaranteed works for horse and greyhound racing in the United Kingdom and Ireland: start times, exclusions, boosts and worked £10 examples.
bet365 Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) pays you at the bigger price. Take a price and, if your pick wins or places at a higher starting price, bet365 pays the higher odds. If the SP’s lower, you keep your price. It covers qualifying horse and greyhound racing in the United Kingdom and Ireland from 08:00 British time on race day.
Our bonus code BET247 is optional when you sign up with bet365, and you don’t need it for Best Odds Guaranteed. Using it won’t change who gets BOG or how bets are settled. We checked all of this on 19 October 2026.
Take a fixed price on a qualifying selection. If it wins or places and the starting price is bigger, bet365 pays you at that bigger price. If the SP comes in shorter, you keep the price you took, minus any deductions (more on those below).
The starting price, or SP, is the price when the race starts. BOG simply compares it with the price you took. It doesn’t promise the best price at every bookie, or the biggest price your pick hit during the day. The name does a fair bit of pre-match shouting; the deal itself is narrower.
A losing bet still loses, however far the price drifts. BOG changes the price a winning bet is settled at, not the result of the race. Our guide to SP in horse racing betting explains the difference between taking a price and backing at SP.
For racing in the United Kingdom and Ireland where no industry SP is declared, bet365 uses its own price at the off if that’s bigger than yours. Want proof BOG has kicked in? Check the bottom of your bet receipt. That’s where bet365 says the confirmation shows up.
Say you stick £10 on a horse at 4/1 and it wins at an SP of 6/1. You get £70 back. If it wins at an SP of 3/1 instead, you still get £50, because your 4/1 was the better price. Not bad for doing nothing.
These are made-up examples, not live odds or tips. Returns include your stake. We’ve assumed a qualifying cash bet, standard each-way place terms of one-fifth of the win odds, and no Rule 4 deductions, dead heats or other settlement tweaks.
| Bet at 4/1 | SP | Settlement odds | Total return |
|---|---|---|---|
| £10 win; selection wins | 6/1 | 6/1 | £70 (£60 profit) |
| £10 win; selection wins | 3/1 | 4/1 | £50 (£40 profit) |
| £10 each-way; places but does not win | 6/1 | 6/5 place odds | £22 (£2 net profit) |
| £10 each-way; places but does not win | 3/1 | 4/5 place odds | £18 (£2 net loss) |
Each-way means two £10 bets: one to win and one to place. If the horse only places, the win half loses. At an SP of 6/1, one-fifth gives place odds of 6/5, so the place half returns £12 plus its £10 stake. That £22 is only £2 more than the £20 you put down, not £12 profit. Sorry to burst the bubble.
If the horse wins, both halves can pay out under the each-way terms. Always go by the fraction and number of places on your receipt; one-fifth is just our assumption here. Our each-way betting guide explains the two stakes, and the bet calculator will do the sums for you.
BOG kicks in at 08:00 British time on race day for qualifying horse racing in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The bet365 help page we checked on 19 October 2026 gives the same start time for qualifying greyhound bets.
Timing matters. A horse bet placed at 07:55 doesn’t count just because the race is that afternoon. And don’t assume a price you took the night before becomes eligible once the clock hits eight. BOG isn’t a sub you can bring on for an earlier bet.
It also depends on your account and the market. bet365’s promo page mentions new and eligible customers. That doesn’t mean every existing customer is out, or that everyone’s in. Log in, see what’s available to you, and look for the confirmation on your receipt rather than taking it as read.
For horse racing in the United Kingdom and Ireland, the qualifying markets are standard Win and Each Way or Win Only fixed odds. You need to bet after the race-day start time, and your account has to be eligible. Singles, multiples, Bet Boost and Showcast bets all count.
Give the exclusions a once-over before the race, not in a stewards’ enquiry afterwards. The horse-racing terms leave out:
Fiddle with the place terms and you can lose BOG. bet365 measures adjusted place terms against the standard Win and Each Way market in the racecard’s Fixed Odds tab. Picking Each Way Extra, or tweaking the terms in your bet slip, isn’t the same as a standard each-way bet.
Multiples count, but that doesn’t turn an excluded market or an ineligible pick into a qualifying one. Check the receipt for the bet you actually placed. A shiny product name on a racing page is no substitute for the settlement rules.
BOG works when you use Bet Boost on the qualifying Win and Each Way market. Winnings Boost is different. bet365 compares your return at the original price plus Winnings Boost with the BOG starting-price return without it, then pays whichever’s bigger.
That’s the bit to remember: you don’t get Winnings Boost on top of the higher BOG price as well. It’s one return against the other. Keep the original price, the boost details and the SP handy when you check your settlement. Otherwise you’ll compare the wrong numbers and award yourself an extra goal.
Bet Boost and Winnings Boost are separate features. They sound alike, but their rules aren’t interchangeable. Our bet365 Bet Boosts guide covers the boost jargon; the BOG rules above decide how the two play together.
If a non-runner triggers a Rule 4 deduction, bet365 compares the SP with your revised odds after that deduction. You still get BOG if the SP beats those adjusted odds.
So don’t just compare the price you saw when you placed the bet. The non-runner deduction is part of the sum. Check the deduction on your bet before deciding you’ve been short-changed.
The help page also says that if no SP is declared for a withdrawn horse, your bet is settled at the taken odds, subject to Rule 4. That covers that one situation. It doesn’t mean every non-runner bet gets a winning payout. If your receipt doesn’t explain a deduction, ask bet365 which settlement rule they used.
Yes. The bet365 help page we checked on 19 October 2026 includes greyhound racing in the United Kingdom and Ireland, for qualifying fixed-odds Win and Each Way bets placed from 08:00 British time on race day.
It covers Board Prices, bet365 Early Prices, singles, multiples and Showcast bets. Ante-post and Tote/Pari-Mutuel bets are out unless stated otherwise. Check your receipt for the BOG confirmation. A dog race being listed doesn’t mean every market on it qualifies.
bet365 and William Hill both list Best Odds Guaranteed in their official rules, checked on 19 October 2026. The rules aren’t the same, mind. William Hill says its BOG is invitation-only, and invited customers have to opt in.
A bookie turning up on a comparison list doesn’t mean you’re eligible. Check its current start time, eligible markets and account conditions. This guide covers bet365’s rules. It isn’t a bookmaker ranking, and not every BOG deal works the same way.
Your receipt and the qualifying market are the two things to check. Here are quick answers to the usual questions on timing, eligibility and settlement, based on the bet365 terms we checked on 19 October 2026.
BOG means Best Odds Guaranteed. On an eligible bet, it compares the price you took with the starting price and pays a winning pick at the higher applicable odds. Sadly, it won’t change whether your selection wins or places.
Yes, qualifying standard each-way bets count. The place part uses the relevant place fraction and settlement price. Each Way Extra and other adjusted place terms are excluded from horse-racing BOG, so check which market your receipt names.
bet365 says BOG is part of settlement for eligible bets, and the confirmation appears at the bottom of your bet receipt. Check that and the settled price. If either looks off, contact bet365 with your receipt details.
Under the standard terms checked on 19 October 2026, horse-racing BOG applies to bets placed from 08:00 British time on race day. A price you took the night before doesn’t qualify just because it’s still available later.
Here’s what bet365 is dishing out to new customers right now, plus the small print worth a squint before you dive in. Fancy using our optional bonus code BET247? Crack on. Just know it won’t bump the offer up or change whether you get BOG. For the full lowdown on the welcome offer and our bonus code BET247, have a nose at our bet365 bonus code guide.
If you fancy signing up, use the bet365 Sports registration link; our bonus code BET247 is optional. Check what’s on offer for your account and country first.
