On the other hand, bet365 went online several years before that in 2000. The British company, founded by Denise Coates, was actually built on a bricks-and-mortar bookies business set up by Coates' father in the 1970s.
By 2005, the family-run company decided to part ways for good with their physical betting business to focus on the increasingly booming online market. Players in many parts of the world can access bet365, including Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa. However, like all online betting brands, access depends on your region.

It's a very interesting prospect when we compare the bet365 vs Betway sportsbooks. That's because Betway and bet365 are really big names in the sports world. Along with the obvious betting options, they also both sponsor and partner with various major events and teams.
When we were researching this article, one of the major things we wanted to focus on was the variety of markets on offer at bet365 vs Betway. We found just shy of 50 different markets to bet on at bet365, including the availability of a custom bet builder.
That's huge compared to Betway, who has around 30 different sports and betting markets. Don't get us wrong — both sportsbooks offer betting lines on all the major sporting events. But if you're looking for slightly more variety, you can get that at bet365.
Both sites are very user-friendly and intuitive when it comes to the layouts of their sportsbooks. At Betway, things are a little crisper with a white background and excellent use of icons on the tabs across the main in-play betting table.
Meanwhile, bet365 has a slightly more traditional approach with a grey background and betting columns dedicated to both in-play and upcoming events. That's really handy if you want to see at a glance both what's happening now and later on.
At the time of writing, there were a number of really impressive promotions available at Betway. We especially love the fact that there are a handful of promotions that are free to enter and give away a cash prize. Other promotions include odds boosts on the wager of your choice, money back on certain outcomes and free bets.
Promotions are a big part of the sportsbook experience over at bet365 as well. While researching Bet365 promotions, we found early payout offers, special odds on big events, accumulator bonuses and guarantees based on specific outcomes too.
Comparing casino sites at bet365 vs Betway is quite interesting. In some ways, the two sites are pretty similar. They've both got a wealth of games to choose from, including slots, table games, card games and live casino games too.
But the big difference is the suppliers. Over at bet365, pretty much everything you see is supplied by Playtech. Meanwhile, over at Betway, the titles are largely from Microgaming.
There's a lot to get through, but let's tackle slots first. There are literally hundreds of slots to choose from at both sites. However, at the time of writing, Betway did have more on offer in terms of quantity than bet365. But how does the quality stack up?
At Betway, there are the likes of Megaways slots, that give you thousands of ways to win, along with pop-culture-themed slots. We spotted Burlesque by Dita Von Teese, Jurassic Park and Game of Thrones themed slots. in addition, you've got a good variety of other popular slots themes like Ancient Egyptian, Irish, sports and the Wild West. And the major progressive jackpot slot pull here is the Mega Moolah titles, which can famously reach astronomical heights.
But over at bet365, there's stiff competition. One of the most popular slots is Age of the Gods slots, which have four juicy progressive jackpots up for grabs. And as the old saying goes, why settling for one progressive jackpot when you can have four?
And at bet365, there is even one or two exclusive Age of the Gods titles. The sports-themed slots are also strong, with the Sporting Legends brand also sharing a progressive jackpot. We'd say that Betway is possibly more suited to players who are new to betting on sports, whereas bet365 is ideal for people who already know what they like and what they're looking for. But both are very solid options.
When it comes to the casino, bet365 is just slightly ahead of Betway. There are a few different reasons for this, but the main reason is that we prefer the Playtech-powered titles on offer at bet365. Betway's Microgaming titles also have a lot of merit — especially the wonderful Mega Moolah slots — but we think Playtech is just that little bit more immersive and cleverly designed.
