Best Odds Guaranteed is one of the most tempting-sounding promotions on the market, isn't it? But how does bog work in bet365 and in other online sports books? We're going to tell you that and much more.
Alright, so best odds guaranteed is also known as BOG. People spend a lot of time Googling BOG meaning betting, but you don't need to do that any more because we've got the topic sorted for you.
Best odds guaranteed is where a sportsbook ensures that whatever happens after you place a bet, you'll get the best odds even if the odds shift before an event.
Whether the odds when you place the bet are more favourable or the starting price (SP) odds are better, if you win, you'll get the biggest payout.
Sounds like the dream, right? It's pretty decent, we have to say.
So the next thing you have to understand is that best odds guaranteed is usually only available for horse racing and greyhound racing. If you've already placed bets on either of those markets, we bet you've seen bog advertised.
However, it's much more rare to see it touted outside of those sports. But there's one thing you can be assured of and that is bog or BOG meaning betting value for customers!
There are a few reasons for this. First off, horse racing and greyhound racing odds can change a lot before the race actually starts. However, this simply isn't the case for other sports like football, where late market moves, volume of bets and weather changes just don't have as much as an impact.
And because these races usually only last a few minutes, it's easier for bookies to calculate the risk on these bets.
It also works in the sportsbooks' favour to encourage punters to bet earlier. As opposed to holding off because of fluctuating odds, if you have BOG, you might be inclined to place that bet sooner than you would without it.
You might be thinking that because best odds guaranteed is so good for punters, it makes things worse for the bookmaker's profits. Well this isn't exactly the case. You see, they can work this into their overround, aka their built in margin, to make sure they're still profiting. And these high margin, low liquidity events make them perfect for offering a BOG without losing out themselves.
So let's drill down into one of Britain's top sportsbooks. How does BOG work in bet365? We'll break it down for you with horse racing and greyhound racing. Both are fairly similar, but of course have minor differences.

To make a bet that's valid under the BOG promotion, you've got to place it before 08:00 UK time on the day of the event. If the event isn't happening in the UK or Ireland, it applies for at least an hour before the race starts. It only applies to win and each way fixed odds markets. This promotion covers UK and Ireland races, including Cheltenham. But there are some countries that are excluded, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong.
And then if you win, you'll get paid out at whichever odds are bigger, either the odds when you placed the bet or the SP odds.
What happens if no industry SP is declared? Well then you'll get paid out at the bet365 race off price, if that's bigger than the odds of the bet you initially placed.
Like we said earlier, you can be assured of BOG meaning betting value for punters!
Now we're going to repeat ourselves quite a bit here, because this BOG promotion works very much the same as the horse racing one.
With greyhound wagers, best odds guaranteed is valid for win and each way fixed odds markets too. A few countries are excluded here too, including the Australasian markets.
And you've guessed it, you'll get the biggest payout from either the bet you places or the SP odds.
Alright, say you've placed a bet on horse A at odds of 7/1, with an SP of 8/1. So in this case, your BOG promotion means you net €90 instead of €80.
However, what if this was reversed? You bet on greyhound A at odds of 8/1. However, the SP for that same dog is 7/1. Again, your payout is €90 instead of €80, as you keep the advantage from the odds of your original bet.
Both examples show BOG meaning betting value for customers in terms of the best value price taken compared to the SP!
In both greyhound racing and horse racing markets, BOG doesn't apply to Each Way Extra, Ante-Post or Tote/Pari-Mutuel/Colossus bets.
There aren't anything in the rules of either BOG horse racing or BOG greyhound racing to suggest that bet365 caps the maximum winnings earned from this promotion. And that's actually really nice because other online sportsbooks do tend to introduce winnings limits for BOG.
