Having already looked at our tips for the best outright bets on the English Premier League last week, this week we are going to turn our attention to four of the other top leagues around Europe and give you our top betting tips for these leagues too.
It certainly is going to be an interesting year across Europe with the financial situation in Spain hitting the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid hard, while Paris St Germain have seemingly been snapping up every available quality player over the summer in an attempt to secure the Champions League.
In Germany, it is the start of a new era for Bayern Munich, while Dortmund will be hoping to continue their blistering end of season form into the new season. Then in Italy, we’ve seen a few changes across Serie A with new managers coming in, most notably Jose Mourinho at AS Roma, as well as some player changes at the clubs most likely to contend for the title this season.
All in all, it promises to be an exciting season across Europe and you can enjoy all the betting on them every week with bet365 Sport. Remember too, all the odds shown in this article are from bet365 Sport and were correct at the time of writing.

Let’s now start our whistle-stop tour of Europe’s top football league competitions beginning across the channel in France.
France – Ligue One Preview
Current Ligue 1 Champions – Lille
2021/22 Season Likely Contenders – Paris St Germain
2021/22 Season Possible Contenders – Marseille, Nice, Lyon, Lille, Monaco, St.Etienne
If there is any league that is likely to be a one-horse race across Europe this coming season, then it is the French League. Last season, Lille stunned everybody by pipping Paris St Germain to the title and with the Parisians also falling short in the Champions League, their owners have invested big money to improve the squad still further this season.
Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi and Giorginio Wijnaldum all joined this summer to join the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Angel Di Maria, Marco Verratti and Marquinhos at the club already and in terms of the quality of squad, there is nobody in France close to Paris St Germain.
With Lille’s manager from last season, Christophe Galtier, moving to Nice, I expect them to. be stronger this season, while the likes of Marseille should also go well. I would also expect Lyon, Monaco and Lille to recover from less than stellar starts to the season to challenge for the top six.
However, this should be PSG’s league and if it isn’t, then it will be a massive shock as this team has not only been built to win Ligue 1 but also the Champions League.
Tip – Paris St Germain (1/12 with bet365)
Spain – La Liga Preview
Current La Liga Champions – Atletico Madrid
2021/22 Season Likely Contenders – Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid
2021/22 Season Possible Contenders – Sevilla, Real Sociedad, Villarreal
Once again, I feel this year will be a race between the three usual suspects in Spain, given that all three have some worrying financial situations to deal with and have squads that are so much stronger than other teams in La Liga, it is hard to see any of the teams below them last season breaking their stranglehold.
Sevilla seem the most likely to do that, and I think Villarreal and Real Sociedad are in the mix, but in truth, I think those three teams are going to be playing for fourth spot in La Liga and a Champions League qualification spot.
I think Barcelona are going to struggle given that they have lost Messi and have to listen to offers for almost any of their squad. That could well cause issues within that squad and as such, the Catalans. Could struggle.
The two Madrid clubs financial positions are not much better, but I think Real are the more settled and stable of the three teams and I also feel they have a strong squad in terms of attack, although defensively I do worry about them without Ramos and Varane, who left the club this summer.
Atletico will be strong again, but I think this season, they will be just pipped to the post by their city rivals.
Tip – Real Madrid (6/5 with bet365)
Germany – Bundesliga Preview
Current Bundesliga Champions – Bayern Munich
2021/22 Season Likely Contenders – Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Red Bull Leipzig
2021/22 Season Possible Contenders – Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Monchengladbach, Vfl Wolfsburg, Eintracht Frankfurt
Bayern Munich have dominated the Bundesliga for the last decade or so, but it is a new era for the German champions too as they have now got Julian Nagelsmann as their new manager, replacing Hansi Muller. Dayot Upemecano has joined from Red Bull Leipzig and he addes real strength to a defence that is already stacked with talent.
While some stars have left the club, such as Jerome Boateng, Bayern have kept the nucleus of their squad together and it is hard to see any team finishing above them in the table this season.
Dortmund and Leipzig are two that could, but both teams have lost key players over the end of season period in the likes of Jadon Sancho, Dayot Upemecano and Ibrahim Konate and as such, I think that they are going to struggle to keep pace with the Bavarian giants this season.
In fact, they could come under challenge for a top three spot from the likes of Leverkusen, Monchengladback and Wolfsburg, while Frankfurt are a better team than I think their odds suggest. However, it is foolish to back any other team other than Munich to land the Bundesliga title again this season.
Tip – Bayern Munich (3/10 with bet365)
Italy – Serie A Preview
Current Serie A Champions – Inter
2021/22 Season Likely Contenders – Juventus, Inter Milan, Napoli, AC Milan, AS Roma, Atalanta, Lazio
2021/22 Season Possible Contenders – Sassuolo, Fiorentina, Sampdoria
Much of the talk this summer was of Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Juventus and as yet, that hasn’t happened and Juventus still possess a very strong squad and have welcomed back Massimiliano Allegri as their new manager, who steered them to huge success before leaving a couple of years ago.
However, there have been a number of significant departures at other clubs that will be Juventus’ main challengers with the likes of Donnarumma (Milan), Lukaku and Hakimi (Inter) and Dzeko (Roma) all on the move.
As such, I think that strengthens Juventus’ position here and as such, I am expecting them to land the Serie A title once again but I think there will be a huge battle below them for the Champions League qualifying spots with any of six or seven teams likely in with a chance of claiming that prize at the end of the season.
Tip – Juventus (4/5 with bet365)
