After a four-year absence, PokerStars announced the good news that everyone was hoping for that both the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) and the PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) will make their return to the poker calendar in the early part of 2023.
The event was first held in 2019 to huge buzz from the poker industry and players, but had to be put on hold due to COVID over the last couple years meaning there were no 2000, 2021 or even 2022 PokerStars Player Championship events.
The 2023 PCA will run between January 22 and February 3, while the PSPC will get underway on January 30 and also finish on February 3. Both festivals will take place at the Baha Mar Hotel & Resort, Nassau and will run simultaneously.
As usual, there will be a ton of other high roller events, side events and cash games to get involved with. The PCA is expected to be a $10k buy-in event, while the PSPC will come with a hefty price tag of $25k.
Once again, players will have the opportunity to swerve the buy-in by earning themselves a PokerStars Platinum Pass.
There will be plenty of opportunities to win a Platinum Pass on the PokerStars website over the coming months with up to 400 Platinum Pass winners able to participate in the event.
This has been a troubling last couple of years for live poker as most interaction has been shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But things have been slowly picking up over the last six months with the reopening of casinos and the return of international travel.
Just last month, PokerStars successfully reintroduced the EPT Prague and have already announced a further round of new EPT, UKIPT and ESPT events for the upcoming months leading the way for the PSPC to be held early next year.
The PCA is one of the most famous and prestigious tournaments in the game and has hosted some legendary showdowns in the past with former winners here including Gus Hansen and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.
The PSPC first ran in 2019 and saw Spain’s Ramon Colillas walk away with $5.1 million and the first-ever PSPC title.
It was the largest ever $25K buy-in event with a $26.5 million prize pool generated from a field of 1,039 entries, many of which qualified through a Platinum Pass, including tournament winner Colillas.
