Last weekend, the Premier League started in front of fans and with an explosion of goals, 34 being scored across the ten games, the most in the opening weekend of the Premier League for a very long time.
That has certainly whetted the appetite for fans and punters ahead of the second round of fixtures which takes place at the weekend, and which features a number of key games, including a couple of very important London derby clashes.
So what we have done is gone through the ten games being played from Saturday through to Monday night and given you our preview and tips for each game, in the form of the predicted correct score of each match.

In what was a goal-filled return for the Premier League, Manchester United ascended to the top of the table on the back of a 5-1 win over Leeds. Chelsea and Liverpool follow after 3-0 wins apiece with West Ham and Brentford next. With no draws, we have 10 teams with 3 points and ten without a point as we head into the second week of games.
No prizes for guessing the surprise of the weekend as a Harry Kane-less Tottenham managed to defeat Manchester City 1-0 at home, the fourth time in succession they have beaten City on their home ground.
All of which sets up an intriguing second matchday of games.
Premier League Matchday 2 Preview & Tips
Liverpool looked back to their best away to Norwich last week, with Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson bringing a calmness to the back line once again. Their strikers also looked sharp and three of their four main men opened their accounts in that game. Burnley were beaten at home by Brighton but have drawn and won on their last two trips to Anfield. I can’t see that run continuing here though. Correct Score – Liverpool 2-0 Burnley (11/2)
After losing their opening game, neither of these teams will want to be pointless after two matches. Villa have home advantage and have, I feel, the stronger of the two squads. Newcastle ran out of steam in the second half last weekend against West Ham which is a worry at the start of the season and as such, despite their loss to Watford, I am backing Villa to grab the win here. Correct Score – Aston Villa 2-0 Newcastle United (9/1)
Patrick Vieira will have had a lesson about how much Palace need to improve after their 3-0 loss at Chelsea on the opening day. A home game against newly promoted Brentford, who beat Arsenal in their opener, looks a good opportunity for them to pick up some points, but the Bees looked so confident against Arsenal, I am not sure I can back them to lose here. As such, I am going to go for a hard working draw. Correct Score – Crystal Palace 0-0 Brenford (7/1)
After being thrashed by Manchester United last week, Leeds will want a response at home, but they face an Everton side that came back well from being 1-0 down to Southampton to record a 3-1 win. The Toffees away form last season was excellent but Leeds are also a very strong team at home. It should be a fascinating tactical battle between Bielsa and Benitez and I think it will likely end in a stalemate. Correct Score – Leeds Utd 1-1 Everton (13/2)
After losing to Spurs last weekend, Manchester City won’t want to slip any further behind their rivals but Norwich at home is arguably going to be their easiest task of the season given how open the Canaries were in their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend. This should just be a matter of how many Manchester City score in this one and I do feel it could be a fair few. Correct Score – Manchester City 5-0 Norwich City (12/1)
Both these teams picked up very good wins on the opening day of the season, so another here would represent a superb start. Watford may find it tough going on the road, but Brighton had one of the worst home records in the EPL last season. I am backing them to put that right here though as I think they will sneak a narrow win here. Correct Score – Brighton 1-0 Watford (11/2)
Last season, Southampton were beaten 9-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford and then also lost at home to the Red Devils. After losing 3-1 at Everton, I feel the Saints could be in for another difficult afternoon on Sunday here against a United side that were rampant against Leeds in the second half. The Saints have lost a few key players here while United have strengthened and as such, I feel United will win this one comfortably. Correct Score – Southampton 0-3 Manchester United (12/1)
Nuno Santos returns to Wolves after leaving the club for Spurs in the summer and after a win over Manchester City in his opening game, Spurs fans will be delighted with his start. Wolves away though is a tough ask and after losing narrowly at Leicester last week, Wolves will be keen to break their duck on the season. I can’t see that happening with a win here though, but a point may be on the cards. Correct Score – Wolves 1-1 Tottenham (6/1)
Last season, Arsenal came into this game on a run of bad form, while Chelsea were flying, but Arsenal emerged as the winners. It’s a similar situation here with Arsenal on the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat to Brentford, while Chelsea were 3-0 winners over Crystal Palace last weekend. However, I can’t see a similar scenario to last season unfolding on Sunday. Chelsea now have Lukaku to bolster their attack and I think he makes a huge difference here. Correct Score – Arsenal 1-3 Chelsea (16/1)
Both these teams picked up maximum points at the weekend and should be confident heading into the game. It’s last year’s 6th placed Premier League team against the 5th, so it is always likely to be a very tight game. For me, I think Leicester have the edge in terms of attacking players, but I have been so impressed with West Ham of late and I can’t see them losing at home here. Correct Score – West Ham 1-1 Leicester City (6/1).
