The 2026 World Cup Tournament Challenge has finished. This archive explains the UK game’s scoring and leaderboard structure, correcting the earlier dollar-denominated “$250,000 prize pool” description. It does not invite entry into the completed tournament or apply these rules to another edition.
What the 2026 game asked players to do
bet365’s UK launch guide, updated 18 June 2026, described choosing 1, X or 2 for the fixtures in each phase. Correct selections earned points using the displayed game odds and a ten-point allocation per fixture. A Daily Double doubled points on one selected fixture per round, and players returned for the next phase’s selections.
The guide identified separate paid leaderboards for Group Matchdays 1, 2 and 3 and the Round of 32, plus an overall leaderboard. Its Your Leagues feature allowed private comparisons with friends. A private league’s rankings were not a promise of an additional operator-funded prize.
£250,000 was not the whole prize pool
The UK guide advertised a £50,000 first prize on each of four individual leaderboards and a £50,000 overall first prize. Its “up to £250,000” headline described adding those top prizes, not the entire amount paid to all entrants. It also listed lower-position prizes, including Bet Credits.
The arithmetic is £50,000 × 5 = £250,000. That does not mean one entrant necessarily won every leaderboard, nor does it make £250,000 the competition’s total fund. The original dollar figure did not identify the UK prize currency correctly.
In its 1 July group-stage report, bet365 said it had already paid more than £350,000 and recorded over 1.6 million entries worldwide and more than 67,000 private leagues. It also identified separate competitions in Spain, Italy, Greece and Brazil. Those figures are the operator’s global campaign report, not UK-only participation.
A hypothetical points example
Suppose a game awards ten times a displayed decimal price for a correct pick. A successful selection at a hypothetical 2.00 earns 20 points; at 3.00 it earns 30. Applying a double to the latter gives 60. These invented example prices explain the calculation, not an actual World Cup fixture or final leaderboard.
The larger potential points total still requires a correct selection. Choosing the longest price repeatedly is not a proven winning strategy, and a points example cannot reproduce someone’s final rank without the actual accepted picks and game prices.
Bet Credits were not cash prizes
The launch guide’s terms said Bet Credits were non-withdrawable, excluded the credit stake from returns and expired seven days after the last addition. They also made availability discretionary. These are recorded June 2026 terms, not current account eligibility or a guarantee of payment.
A leaderboard place, a cash prize and a credit balance are different records. To investigate an old award, retain the relevant round, accepted selections, displayed prices and operator notification. This archive does not reconstruct missing account history or infer that BCP readers won a prize.
