Champions League Matchday 4 on 3–4 November: UK kick-offs, team news, form and bet365 odds for nine ties, including Barcelona v Aston Villa and Man Utd v Roma.
Matchday 4 of the Champions League league phase is played on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 November, and it is heavy on English interest. Aston Villa take their perfect record to Barcelona, Manchester United host Roma with Michael Carrick under pressure, and Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are all away from home on Wednesday.
This preview covers nine ties across the two nights, with UK kick-off times, team news, form and the 1-X-2 prices from bet365. Eight teams go straight into the last 16 at the end of the league phase, those in ninth to 24th go into the knockout play-offs and the bottom 12 are out, so four games in, the table is starting to bite.

Tuesday 3 November
Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich, 8pm
The pick of Tuesday’s games comes at the Metropolitano, where Bayern arrive without their head coach. Vincent Kompany remains off on medical grounds, so assistant Aaron Danks takes charge, and the injury list is long: Jamal Musiala, Luis Díaz, Serge Gnabry and Ismael Saibari are out, Michael Olise trained with strapping on his leg after limping out of the 2-2 draw with Dortmund, and Manuel Neuer is a doubt.
Atletico have won seven LaLiga games in a row, but Diego Simeone is short in midfield. Morten Hjulmand is suspended and Johnny Cardoso is out, though captain Koke is expected back from a hamstring injury. Cuti Romero is a late call.
Bayern have five points from a win and two draws, one place and one point above Atletico. Harry Kane has scored in each of his last ten Champions League appearances, and one more would equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s run of 11. Atletico have never lost at home to Bayern, with two wins and a draw, even though Bayern lead the overall head-to-head four wins to two.

Barcelona v Aston Villa, 8pm
Villa are one of five teams on nine points after beating Club Brugge, Fenerbahce and Viking, and sit second. Camp Nou is the hardest test so far, and a return for Unai Emery to the ground where his Paris Saint-Germain side lost 6-1 in 2017.
Barcelona have six points and are eighth after losing 4-2 at PSG, though they beat Alavés 6-1 at the weekend. Hansi Flick’s defence is stretched, with Jules Koundé, Andreas Christensen, Eric García and Xavi Espart all out, along with Dani Olmo and Roony Bardghji. Lamine Yamal has 13 Champions League goals as a teenager, level with Kylian Mbappé, so one more would make it a record.
Villa are without Amadou Onana, Matteo Ruggeri and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Nicolas Jackson has eight goals in 12 games for the club and Emiliano Buendía has scored in each of his last four European appearances. Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 15 home games against English opposition; Villa have won one of eight away trips in Spain. Davide Massa referees.

Man Utd v Roma, 8pm
United are nine games without a win in all competitions, their longest run since 1988, and Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Chelsea left them 17th in the Premier League. In Europe they have three points from defeats at Atletico and Como and are 21st. Carrick has said he will be in charge on Tuesday, and his position is the subject of the next Man United manager odds.
Lisandro Martínez was sent off at Stamford Bridge, but the ban is domestic and he is available. Luke Shaw, Benjamin Šeško, Manuel Ugarte and Patrick Dorgu are out, Marcus Rashford is a doubt and Kobbie Mainoo is fit to start.
Roma are third in Serie A, won 5-2 at Udinese on Saturday and have four points in Europe after a 4-3 defeat to Real Madrid in which they led 3-1. Gian Piero Gasperini is without goalkeeper Mile Svilar, Manu Koné and Lorenzo Pellegrini, while Paulo Dybala is a doubt. Donyell Malen has three Champions League goals this season.
History is on United’s side. They have won all four home meetings with Roma, including the 7-1 quarter-final in 2007 in which Carrick scored twice, and Roma have won once in 21 away games at English clubs.

Villarreal v PSG, 8pm
The holders make their first competitive visit to La Cerámica. PSG are unbeaten in 13 Champions League games, a club record, and beat Barcelona 4-2 last time out to reach nine points. Vitinha has scored in each of their last two games in the competition.
PSG travel without Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé, Marquinhos and Nuno Mendes. Villarreal, 19th on three points, lost 4-3 at Liverpool on Matchday 3 and have fitness doubts over Juan Foyth and Ilias Akhomach.

Wednesday 4 November
AEK Athens v Real Madrid, 5.45pm
Real Madrid have nine points, having come from 3-1 down to beat Roma 4-3 with three late goals. They have won only one of eight away games in Greece, and the head-to-head with AEK stands at a win each and two draws.
Madrid are without Rodrygo, Raúl Asencio, Ferland Mendy and the injured Federico Valverde, while Vinícius Júnior is back. Jude Bellingham is one appearance from 60 Champions League games and would be the youngest player to reach the mark. AEK, 29th on three points after a 5-1 defeat at Manchester City, are without goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha and the suspended Christos Alexiou. Former Madrid striker Luka Jović leads their attack.

Fenerbahce v Liverpool, 5.45pm
Liverpool have won all three games in the league phase, the latest a 4-3 win over Villarreal, but lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal on Sunday. Andoni Iraola is without Jeremie Frimpong, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Hugo Ekitiké, which is likely to move Dominik Szoboszlai to right-back.
Fenerbahce are 31st with two points and have gone ten Champions League games without a win, a club record. They are led by interim coach Dirk Kuyt, a former Liverpool forward. Mason Greenwood is expected back after illness, but Nathan Aké, Marco Asensio and Jayden Oosterwolde are out.
Turkey has not been kind to Liverpool lately: they lost their last three away games in Turkey, all 1-0. The draw is priced at 7/2, and Liverpool have not drawn in their last 46 UEFA matches. Clément Turpin referees.

Borussia Dortmund v Real Betis, 8pm
Betis have won three Champions League games in a row for the first time, the latest 1-0 against Feyenoord, and are fifth on nine points. Manuel Pellegrini takes charge of his 70th game in the competition.
This is the first meeting between the clubs. Dortmund, 13th on six points, drew 2-2 at Bayern Munich on Saturday and have won their last four games against Spanish opposition. They are expected to be without Emre Can, while Betis are missing Cucho Hernández and Junior Firpo.

RB Leipzig v Man City, 8pm
City have lost consecutive Premier League games, 2-1 at Aston Villa and 1-0 at home to Brighton on Saturday, and dropped to second. Enzo Maresca has only Antoine Semenyo missing with a knee injury. In Europe, City are tenth on six points after a 5-1 win over AEK.
Erling Haaland has 12 goals in eight games against Leipzig, including five in the 7-0 win in 2023, and leads the Champions League scoring charts with four. City have won four of six meetings, and Leipzig have lost their last five games against English sides.
Martin Demichelis, a former City defender, has Leipzig fourth in the Bundesliga after three straight wins, but they are 29th in Europe with three points. Marc Guiu and Assan Ouédraogo are out and Maxime Estève is a doubt. Marco Guida referees.

Slavia Prague v Arsenal, 8pm
Arsenal won 1-0 at Anfield on Sunday, their first win there in 14 years, and are three points clear at the top of the Premier League. In Europe they have seven points from wins over Napoli and Lille and a 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich, covered in BCP’s Bayern v Arsenal preview, and are unbeaten in 18 Champions League games, a club record.
Bukayo Saka (quad) and William Saliba (back) are out and Eberechi Eze has a fitness issue. Max Dowman is available, as his three-match ban covers domestic games only.
Slavia lead the Czech league by seven points but are bottom of the Champions League table with one point and have gone 18 UEFA matches without a win. Arsenal won 3-0 on the same ground last season and are unbeaten in 11 games against Czech sides.
