Classic casino movie rundown

Now this could be a controversial entry on the list as this classic casino movie was only released in June 2022. However, it’s got oodles of style and is just such a good watch.

Casino
Delving deeper into 1970s Las Vegas, we’ve got Martin Scorsese’s Casino. Starring Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone, this 1995 film chronicles the crime and corruption of Las Vegas at that time.
It tells the story of major casinos run by mobsters and so many illegal things taking place. But it is a really interesting watch to see Sin City at, arguably, its most sinful.
Atlantic City
Of course, a classic casino movie doesn’t have to be set in Las Vegas. Atlantic City, starring Susan Sarandon and Burt Lancaster, showcases the East Coast gambling mecca.
This flick is all about a time of evolution and change in Atlantic City: when gambling was eventually legalized. The movie explores what that meant for the area and how it transformed as a result.

Definitely one for the blackjack fans, 21 is about a group of MIT students who head to Atlantic City with one purpose. To take on the casinos and win. They devise a card counting strategy that shifts the odds in their favor. After they’re done, they manage to earn huge amounts of money.
And the casinos, as you might imagine, are not impressed. Released in 2008 and starring Kevin Spacey, this is one of those classic casino movies that’s perfect for watching with a big bowl of popcorn and a side of candy. A blockbuster hit that’s fast-paced and easy to watch.
Owning Mahowny
Owning Mahowny is the opposite of a fun romp. This is about the tragic story of a Canadian banker who becomes addicted to gambling.
