Premier League Alert: Chelsea Have the Second-Largest Share of Top Four Bets Despite Being Fifth In Price Order

Chelsea have the second-largest share of bets in bet365’s Premier League Top Four market, despite ranking fifth in the price order at 5/6. Singles and accumulators combined.

Bet365 has released its latest betting numbers on the English Premier League ahead of the start of the season and there are some interesting takeaways for punters for where the action is taking place.

Most notably, Chelsea have the second-largest share of bets in bet365’s 2026/27 Premier League Top Four market, despite ranking fifth in the price order at 5/6.

Share of bets measures the number of bets placed, not the total value staked, and these figures combine both singles and accumulators. Odds are the bookmaker’s market price at the time of this writing.

Six clubs account for most for most of the betting so far:

ClubGlobal share of betsUK share of betsTop Four price
Arsenal23.21%24.88%1/8
Chelsea21.91%23.11%5/6
Manchester United17.45%18.75%8/13
Manchester City13.39%8.64%2/7
Liverpool9.83%8.23%4/9
Tottenham7.07%7.86%3/1

Whole-market share of bets, including accumulators.

By price, clubs ranked from shortest to longest: Arsenal (1/8), City (2/7), Liverpool (4/9), United (8/13), Chelsea (5/6), Tottenham (3/1). By global share of bets, highest to lowest: Arsenal, Chelsea, United, City, Liverpool, Tottenham. The clubs customers back most often are not the clubs the board prices shortest.

Chelsea: second in share of bets, fifth in the price order

Chelsea sits behind City, Liverpool and United on the board, yet they sit ahead of all three in share of bets made. Their global and UK figures sit only a couple of points behind Arsenal, while the prices are 5/6 against 1/8. Arsenal, the defending champions, are the only club whose rankings align: they are first in price and first in betting support.

Chelsea will not be playing Europe this season after Sunderland beat them on the last day of 2025/26, so there are no continental nights in the 2026-27 calendar. That may help explain why some customers are backing a Top Four place at a longer price than the clubs still in Europe.

Manchester United rank higher in share of bets than in the price order

Manchester United are fourth in the price order at 8/13 and third by share of bets. Fan interest and accumulator use could lift a well-known name even when the odds are not the shortest.

City and Liverpool: high in the price order, lower in the share

City and Liverpool are second and third in the price order but fourth and fifth by global share of bets. Their UK support is lighter still. City are 2/7 and drop from 13.39% globally to 8.64% in the UK, the sharpest global-to-UK gap on the table. They begin the season without Pep Guardiola.

Liverpool are 4/9 and fifth in both share columns. A large part of the customer count has gone to clubs with longer prices. Tottenham are last of the six in the price order at 3/1, and their UK share sits close to City and Liverpool.

A 1/8 or 2/7 name is a natural include in a multiple, which can raise a short-priced favourite’s share of bets. The reverse could leave an odds-on side looking light if customers will not put it in those multiples. That may contribute to Arsenal’s lead and to Liverpool’s ranking.

Freeth on Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea

bet365’s Steve Freeth, shared his thoughts on the top Top Four market:

“What is noticeable, both at home and abroad, is the unwillingness to back Liverpool at odds-on to finish in the Top 4 under Andoni Iraola. Spurs are certainly popular, having been backed from 11/2 to 3/1, and Chelsea are seeing similar support under Xabi Alonso.”

That matches Liverpool’s fifth place in both share columns at an odds-on price. The only extra price move given here is Tottenham, from 11/2 into 3/1. Chelsea’s second-place share of bets is the customer-activity half of the Alonso remark, not a separate price move.

The two rankings do not tell the same story

The clearest discrepancy in the betting is Chelsea: second in share of bets, fifth in the price order. United lean the same way while City and Liverpool lean the other.
