So let’s now take a look at how things have panned out so far in the biggest esports tournament in the world in terms of viewership and sheer number of players.
Ten teams competed in the Play In Tournament to earn the right to progress to the Group Stage. The winner of each Play In Group would progress into the Group Phase, with the teams finishing second, third and fourth competing in the Play In to see which other two teams would make it through.
Evil Geniuses and Royal Never Give Up progress into the Group Stage of the tournament as Play In Round winners.
The four qualifiers from the Play In stage were allocated into one of four Groups for the Group Stage alongside 12 pre-qualified teams that were seeded through to this stage of the competition.
The final tables of the Group Stages were as follows:
Tose final standings in the Group Stages have given us this set of quarterfinal games.
The Knockout Stage games start today at 10pm BST with one game played per day from the 19th to the 22nd October. The matches to be played are as follows:
The winners of these four best of five quarter finals will go on to the Semi Finals set to be played on the 29th and 30th October, with the two semi-final winners contesting the final on November 5th.
The Match Winner odds for each of the four quarterfinals are as follows:
The Outright Winner market sees Gen.G the 13/8 favourites just ahead of JD Gaming at 15/8 with three-time winners T1 an 11/2 chance.
Outside of those three teams the odds drift somewhat to EDward Gaming at 9/1, Royal Never Give Up at 11/1, DWG KIA at 12/1, DRX at 25/1 and Rogue are the rank outsiders at 66/1.
For me, I think JD Gaming are the team to back here at 15/8 as the outright winners and in truth, I think all four favourites will win their respective Quarter Final games.
