Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wolves. The match, held at Molineux Stadium, saw Mohamed Salah score the winning penalty after Nelson Semedo fouled Diogo Jota in the box. The game started with Ibrahima Konate opening the scoring for Liverpool with a towering header. However, an error between Konate and Alisson allowed Rayan Ait-Nouri to equalise for Wolves. Despite the setback, Liverpool's resilience shone through as they secured the win and climbed to the top of the table.
Manchester City dropped points for the second consecutive week, drawing 1-1 with Newcastle. The match saw Anthony Gordon score a penalty to cancel out Josko Gvardiol‘s opener for City. In what was an exciting game between the two teams, that saw chances at both ends, both managers will probably feel a draw was a fair result. City clearly missed the influence of injured midfield duo Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri. Meanwhile Erling Haaland failed to score in the Premier League for the first time this season as he was well-shackled by Fabian Schar and Dan Burn.
Cole Palmer made Premier League history by becoming the first player to score four goals inside the opening 45 minutes of a game. His remarkable performance helped Chelsea secure a 4-2 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge. Palmer's goals came in the 21st, 28th, 31st, and 41st minutes, including a penalty and an outstanding long-range free kick for his hat-trick goal. This historic achievement places Palmer among the greats of Chelsea, joining the likes of Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in scoring at least three goals in a game three times for the club. It also moved Chelsea into fourth spot in the table.
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard gave Arsenal a 2-0 half-time lead against Leicester and things seemed to be going as expected for Mikel Arteta's team. But in the second half a double from Leicester full back James Justin brought the Foxes level. However, deep into injury time a Wilfred Ndidi own goal and a very late Kai Havertz finish handed Arsenal a win which keeps them unbeaten and moves them third in the table, now level on points with Manchester City.

Brentford's uncanny ability to score very early in games was evident again in the game with West Ham when Bryan Mbeumo put them in front in the first minute, the third game in a row Brentford have scored within the first 60 seconds of the match. However, West Ham put in one of their best displays of the season and deservedly drew level through Tomas Soucek to earn a point.
Everton winger Dwight McNeil scored twice as Everton came back from a goal down to Crystal Palace to win the match 2-1. The visitors made a strong start at Goodison Park with in-demand England international centre-back Marc Guehi putting Palace in front. However, McNeil struck twice within seven minutes early in the second half to turn the game on its head. Everton defended doggedly to take the win which moves them up to 16th in the table.
A second half penalty from Raul Jimenez was enough for Fulham to beat Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. It was Forest's first defeat of the season in a game that only saw three attempts on target between the two teams. Murillo's foul on Andreas Pereira won Fulham the penalty which Jimenez converted for his third goal in three games for the Cottagers.
Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap continued his fine goalscoring record at Portman Road for his new club at the weekend. His finely-taken brace of goals earning Ipswich a good point against Aston Villa. Delap put Ipswich in front on eight minutes but Villa struck back in an entertaining first half with Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins netting to put the visitors in front. However Delap's outstanding run and finish brought Ipswich level and the home side will feel if they can keep performing like this, that elusive first win of the season will come sooner rather than later.
Manchester United's poor start to the season continued at Old Trafford at the weekend as they were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham. In truth it could have been several more for Spurs who squandered several other gilt-edged chances in addition to the three they did score. A fantastic Micky Van de Ven run and cross saw Brennan Johnson tap home his fourth goal in four games and before half-time United were down to ten men when Bruno Fernandes received a straight red for an ugly foul on James Maddison. In the second half strikes from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke sealed a richly deserved win for the visitors in front of a near-empty Old Trafford.
A fine first half display by Bournemouth saw them take a 3-0 lead into the interval against south coas rivals Southampton. Brazilian striker Evanilson scored his first Premier League goal for the club on 17 minutes before Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo added further goals to make it 3-0 at the interval. Taylor Harwood-Bellis did pull one back for Southampton early in the second half, but they could not score again as Bournemouth held on comfortably for the win.

Arne Slot, the manager of Liverpool, believes that the team's early ascent to the top of the Premier League is not a realistic view of the table yet. Slot called for calm and emphasises that a more accurate league table will emerge halfway through the campaign. He acknowledges the team's strong start but insists that there is still a lot for his team to prove as the season progresses.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, reiterated his admiration for Pep Guardiola despite recent criticism from Guardiola regarding comments about using ‘dark arts‘ during the recent 2-2 draw between the teams. The Gunners boss said that he could not help it if outside influences were trying to sour what he believes is a positive relationship he has with the Manchester City manager.
Pressure is mounting on Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag after the Red Devil's toothless 3-0 loss to Tottenham. In truth, the scoreline could have easily been considerably higher as Spurs missed three one-on-ones with United keeper Andre Onana, they also hit the post, and also missed several other good chances in the game. The manner of defeat heaped pressure on the United boss who did receive support from the board in the aftermath of the game.
Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate took ‘mock' offence after team mate Ryan Gravenberch was warded man of the match for Liverpool in their win at Wolves. In a jovial post-game interview, Konate intimated that he should have received the award after scoring the opening goal, the second game in a row he had found the net for Liverpool after doing so against Milan in midweek. However, as the Sky pundits and Reds manager Arne Slot pointed out, Konate was culpable for the Wolves equaliser. The Liverpool manager jokingly adding that the Frenchman “must have forgot” about his role in Wolves goal saying it was “avoidable, to say the least.“
Cole Palmer's four-goal salvo against Brighton has led to some pundits claiming that the young England midfielder is now one of the best players in the Premier League, if not the best. Gary Neville was one pundit that lauded Palmer's achievements since joining Chelsea and Palmer now has six Premier League goals to his name this season, four behind Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
The Premier League continues to deliver thrilling matches and historic performances. Liverpool's ascent to the top of the table, Cole Palmer's record-breaking performance, and Arsenal's late surge are just a few highlights from the recent action. As the season progresses, fans can look forward to more exciting moments and intense competition in the Premier League.
