Let’s now discover a little more about accumulator bets and why they are so popular with football fans in particular.

What is an accumulator bet?

An accumulator bet, or ‘acca’ as it is also known, is a bet that consists of two or more selections and where each selection you make on your bet slip must be a winner, in order for you to receive a return on your bet. If one or more of your selections does not win, then your accumulator bet will lose, regardless of how any of the other selections turn out.

Although popular on football, accumulator bets can be used across a wide range of sports and they have been in existence for a long time. However, they are especially popular with football bettors as they offer a chance to risk a small amount of money and then my ‘accumulating’ winnings through a series of successful predictions, it can amount to large chunk of cash.

Traditionally, accumulators in football have been based on the match result market, but a number of new options are available for punters, most popularly the both teams to score and the result/both teams to score bets. This means that punters have more flexibility about the bets that they want to place in their accumulator.

  • Accumulator terminology

Accumulators can be called ‘accas’ as we have mentioned before, but there are also some special terms used for specific types of accumulator bets. A bet with just two selections is known as a ‘double’ and a bet with three is a ‘treble’. However, after that, bets tend to be denoted by the number of selections followed by the suffix -fold, so for a seven selection accumulator bet, this would be a seven-fold bet.

The low risk/high reward potential outcomes for accumulator bets are what makes them so popular with football fans in particular, but with that comes a simple caveat and that is the more selections that you add to an accumulator, then the generally harder it is to land a successful bet.

How do I place an accumulator bet at bet365?

The great news is that it is incredibly easy to place an accumulator bet at bet365. In this example, we are using the full time result market across a number of Premier League games taking place this week.

In the first screen shot, you can see the Full Time Result coupon when you load up the page and to make an accumulator, all you need to do is highlight which of the results you want for the games you want to include. 1 is for the home win, X is for the draw and 2 means you are selecting the away team to win the match.

In the example, you can see that I have selected five home wins for Manchester City, Leicester, Tottenham, Manchester United and Newcastle United, plus a final away win for Everton.

You will also note on the bet slip, this has come in at a six-fold bet at odds of 19.2/1. This means that a £10 bet placed on this accumulator would return £192 as standard.

However at bet365 Sport, you would actually receive a little more for this bet if it is a winner thanks to the site offering a fantastic Accumulator Bonus on qualifying bets.

What is bet365 Sport’s Soccer Accumulator Bonus?

At bet365, all qualifying accumulators could be in receipt of a special bonus amount of cash if they are winner thanks to the Soccer Accumulator Bonus.

To qualify, if you place a bet on three or more selections from the Full Time Result, Both Teams to Score or Result/Both Teams to Score markets from a selection of top football leagues and competitions, including the Premier League, then you will be paid a bonus on top of your standard winnings.

The amount you win is calculated as a percentage of your winnings from your bet and the percentage used increases with the number of selections in your bet. It starts at 5% for a successful treble bet and increases up to 70% for a successful 14-fold bet or greater.

In the example above, our six fold bet would receive a 15% bonus on top of the £192 winnings. Which is an extra £28.80 paid out if the bet is a winner, meaning a total return of £220.80.

The key terms and conditions for the Soccer Accumulator Bonus are outlined below and you can find even more details about the bonus, including details of which leagues and competiitions it is available for, on the bet365 Sport site.
