A Lucky 15 is a full cover bet comprising of four selections, similar to a Yankee. Unlike a Yankee bet, the Lucky 15 covers all selections as a single bet too.
As with all full cover bets, the more of your selections that win and the higher their individual odds, the greater the value of the return you will receive from the bet.
It is called a Lucky 15 as there are 15 different lines in the bet that need to be covered with a unit stake. So a £1 Lucky 15 bet would cost £15 to place.

You can think of a Lucky 15 bet as a Yankee bet, but with all the four options covered by a bet on each winning as a single.

The basis of a Lucky 15 bet is the Yankee bet which covers eleven different betting lines from four selections as follows:
A punter backs four selections as a £1 Yankee bet. That will cost £11 to cover the following combinations.

This bet would cost £11 to place and requires two or more selections in order to guarantee a return. A profit is not guaranteed, if just two selections win, as it depends on the combined odds of the selections, which would need to be greater than 10/1 to guarantee a profit.
However, another option is to turn this into a Lucky 15 bet. To do that, the punter would have to back all of the above lines, plus four more lines which back each selection as a single.

As there are four additional lines to cover with a Lucky 15 bet, this means that this bet would cost £15 to place for a £1 unit stake. However, it would generate a return if just one selection wins, although the winning selection would have to be of odds of 14/1 or greater to generate a profit.
While we have outlined how the Lucky 15 bet is devised and implemented above, below is an example of how a Lucky 15 bet would work with bet365 Sport.

Say we select £1 as our Unit Stake, that would mean the total cost of the bet would be 15 x £1 = £15.
However, to calculate our returns, you would need to calculate the return for each possible combination of winner(s) in the bet. Fortunately, bet365’s bet slip allows you to see all of those combinations in full once you have entered your stake.
As you can see, if only one selection wins, you will make a loss on the bet as the maximum return for a bet is £5.50 for a single bet.
However, what should be remembered is that this bet is cumulative, so if selections 1 and 4 win, you would win £4.20 for the double bet on those two selections, plus £2.00 and £2.10 for the two single bets winning. That’s a total return of £8.30, which is still not a profit.
But, if selections 2 and 3 win, as they are longer odds selections, that changes somewhat. You will win £22 for the winning double for selections 2 and 3, plus £5.50 and £4.00 for the winning singles bets. That is a total return of £31.50, which means you have landed £16.50 profit!
Furthermore, as you can see, the more of your selections that win, the greater number of lines you win and the higher the total return on your bet will be.
If all four selections win then all fifteen lines win and you would win every return listed above, generating a significant profit.
This is why the Lucky 15 bet is so popular with punters! You can bet a relatively small amount per line, and still land a hefty return, especially if three or all four selections win.
