After years of grinding tournaments both live and online, 52-year-old Herman Ludfarb finally achieved his lifelong dream of winning a large field MTT tournament.
Sadly, it was only on ClubWPT.

“Man, I never thought I’d win over a million in a tournament!” exclaimed Ludfarb just after the tournament had concluded. “Although I guess it was only a million WPT gold stars…. which I suppose I can only trade in for a free Frisbee or something…”
ClubWPT is a subscription service that has over 200,000 members despite literally no one you’ve ever seen, met, or heard of playing on the site. Membership is $19.95 a month and includes free instructional videos, unlimited tournament action, and the illusion that you’re playing with the Royal Flush girls.
“Plus being a ClubWPT member gives me exclusive access to old WPT episodes. I could just find them all on YouTube, but this way I can watch them and not feel bad about it,” noted Ludfarb.
The tournament cost 115 WPT gold doubloons and offered unlimited re-entries up to level 245. Everyone who made the final table was guaranteed 100,000 WPT rubies while the top 3 players would walk away with over half a million bango-bongos.
Final tables continue to haunt Ludfarb
Of course, Ludfarb mentioned that this wasn’t his first brush with final table glory.
“I once made the final table of the $125 nightly when the World Series of Poker-Circuit event came to town,” Ludfarb mentioned while petting his cat and staring wistfully out of his kitchen window.
“I thought that was the one, but then…”
After several moments, Ludfarb, maybe to a BCP reporter, but more likely to himself whispered:
“We were down to 8 players… and I had ace-king and he raised… I knew… I should have… I just thought…”
But then Ludfarb went quiet.
The memory is still, clearly, too painful to talk about.
ClubWPT underwhelming players since 2008
Winners of ClubWPT tournaments can trade in their gold coins for all sorts of World Poker Tour-related merchandise. All kinds of prizes are available – from WPT DVD’s and hats to WPT T-shirts and different colored hats.
To be fair, once a month ClubWPT sends one or two lucky players to play in a prestigious $10k buy-in event where Darren Elias three-bets them every had until they bust in Level 5.
