37-year-old Dane Flemingwood recently heard about the NFT craze, and knows that in his heart of hearts, it’s something he’s going to make a killing on! By day, Flemingwood is a customer sales rep at the local Kohl’s on Main Street, but he says that job is simply to “pay the bills until the big score comes in.”
A can’t-lose strategy
And Flemingwood is banking (and banking big) on that score coming in the way of NFTs that he plans to buy at a reasonable price and then flip for a huge profit.
“That’s where a lot of the people mess up,” he told reporters while cleaning one the Kohl’s changing rooms. “I think so many people buy these things and then try to flip them in just a couple hours or days. I’m built a little different, and plan to hold mine for at least a week.”
NFTs are the latest craze amongst gamblers and investors. They are a form of artwork that exists solely in the digital space, and are non-tangible. In fact, that’s where the word ‘NFT’ comes from: Non-Tangible Art.
They are worth a lot of money, but nobody knows why. Literally, no one knows. And anyone who claims to know is simply lying to you in the hopes you’ll give them money or shelter.
NFTs: A Love at first sight
Flemingwood first heard about NFTs while perusing Twitter, where he goes to give his opinions on the vaccine and race relations in America. Right away he was hooked.
The first one that caught my eye was a cartoon drawing of a monkey. Except it wasn’t a regular monkey, per se. It was sorta half-monkey, half robot. However, it was also a little bit of a zombie corpse, but then also part dinosaur. And what’s sick about the collection is that there are only 100 of these in existence. And no one knows who made them. And no one can ever know. That’s how blockchains work.

Flemingwood is hoping he’ll find more success trading NFTs than being a pro poker player, which he was for three months in 2010. Or when he was a pro sports bettor for six weeks in 2019. Or when he claimed to be a professional crypto trader for a day and half last December.
But whether Flemingwood hits the jackpot or goes down swinging is anyone’s guess. All we know is we can’t wait to see what new craze the gambling community becomes ravenously obsessed with, but then loses interest in a year later.
