Premier League Round Up And Matchday 10 Predictions

By Ian John
October 26, 2023

It has been a little while since we last caught up with some of the major happenings in the Premier League over the last few weeks. So now seems as good a time as any as we head into the 10th week of action.

We are now around a quarter of the way through the season and things are looking intriguing at the top and bottom of the table, with some familiar and less familiar teams in the mix.

Week 10 also features one of the prestige games of the season as Manchester United host Manchester City. A game that both teams will feel is a must-win for them, given their respective positions in the Premier League table.

Remember, all the odds shown in this post come directly from bet365 Sport and they were correct at the time of writing, but may have changed since publication.

So if you have some Bet Credits remaining from a welcome offer or similar, why not use them up on this weekend’s action in the EPL?

But before we take a look at this weekend’s action in the Premier League, let’s first give you a recap of some of the big stories in the Premier League over the last few weeks.

Premier League Big News

  • Robertson Set For Spell On Sideline

Liverpool and Scotland left back Andy Robertson underwent surgery on a shoulder injury this week. The op was to help repair his shoulder injury sustained against Spain in the recent Euro 2024 qualifiers. Robertson is believed to be set to miss 10 weeks of action.

  • Iraola Under Pressure

He may have only been in charge for nine games so far this season, but without a win in any of them Andoni Iraola is said to be under pressure in his position as manager of Bournemouth. Reports suggest that unless the Cherries can claim their first win of the season against Burnley this weekend, Iraola could be on his way before their next EPL game.

  • Tonali Set For Lengthy Ban After Italian Betting Probe

Newcastle United’s £55m midfielder Sandro Tonali could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after an investigation into illegal betting on Serie A games over the last few seasons. Tonali, it is alleged, has been implicated in the investigation and could face a lengthy ban, purported to be 10 months in length. Whether that is applied within Italy, or worldwide, remains to be seen.

Premier League – Matchday 10 Fixtures & Tips

Games kick off at 8pm on Friday, 3pm on Saturday or 2pm on Sunday unless stated.

Friday 27th October

  • Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur

Crystal Palace come into this game on the back of a heavy defeat away to Newcastle and they now face an unbeaten Spurs side who are top of the Premier League and who could go five points clear with a win here. Ange Postecoglou’s team look very solid and seem to be able to dig out results that previous Spurs teams could not. That’s what I think they will do here. Take Spurs to win and both teams to score at 5/2.

Saturday 28th October

  • Chelsea v Brentford (12.30pm)

The first of Saturday’s games is another London derby as Chelsea welcome Brentford. The home side have hit a better run of form with 7 points collected from the last nine available, while Brentford have struggled to match their solid start to the season. Although the Bees did win last weekend. Chelsea’s home form is still not great but I think they’ll do enough to land the win here. I like the look of Raheem Sterling (Chelsea) to score first here at 5/1.

  • Arsenal v Sheffield United

After earning a fantastic win in Seville in midweek, the Gunners return home to take on the Premier League’s bottom team in Sheffield United in what looks like it is a home banker on the fixture list. The Blades have just one point from nine games, a home draw with Everton, so I would expect Arsenal to score a few here and land a very comfortable win. I think there will be goals and perhaps even an own goal, and you can back there to be an own goal in this game at 11/2.

  • Bournemouth v Burnley

If rumours are to be believed, the pressure is on Andoni Iraola here as two teams in the relegation zone meet up on the south coast. Bournemouth are just one of two EPL teams without a win this season and if they can’t beat Burnley at home, it is hard to see where they will get one. Vincent Kompany’s Burnley seem better prepared at the moment and that could be key here. However, I think this has 0-0 or 1-0 written all over it but take the 21/20 on offer for Under 2.5 goals.

  • Wolverhampton Wanderers v Newcastle United (5.30pm)

After a loss to Dortmund in midweek, Newcastle come into this game hoping to bounce back. Wolves though are unbeaten in their last four, drawing and winning two so this won’t be a walkover for the Toon Army. Eddie Howe will want to see a reaction from his team from that midweek defeat but could be without Sandro Tonali. I can’t see this being a cakewalk for Newcastle, but they may just do enough to win. Take Newcastle to win and both teams to score at 5/2.

Sunday 29th October

  • West Ham United v Everton (1.00pm)

After the untimely passing of their Chairman Bill Kenwright this week, Everton travel to West Ham in what is likely to be a tough and emotional game for the team. The Hammers, managed by former Everton boss David Moyes, are a fitting opponent for the fixture and I think it will be a closely fought game, but one that the home team should win. Back West Ham to land the win here and both teams to score at 11/4.

  • Aston Villa v Luton Town

Luton Town have the unenviable task of taking on the team with the best home record in the Premier League this season and who put four past West Ham last week. Aston Villa have been excellent at home and have married that with some better away displays in recent times. They now lie 5th in the Premier League table and I’d expect them to claim a strong win here. Take Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) to score at anytime in this game at even money.

  • Brighton v Fulham

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is overseeing one of the toughest runs of results in his time as manager of the Seagulls. They played on Thursday night in the Europa League and now face Fulham on Sunday, a game which should be a home win. However, Fulham’s recent form has also not been the best and they are not the strongest away from home. I can see this one ending in a perhaps surprising draw here. Back the draw and both teams to score at 4/1.

  • Liverpool v Nottingham Forest

Liverpool are another term with a perfect home record this season with four wins from four and they face a Nottingham Forest team that has not won at Anfield in the league since February 1969. It is hard to make a case for Steve Cooper’s team to get something from this game given how well the home side have performed in front of their own fans. Take Mo Salah to score the first, or last goal for Liverpool at odds of 10/3.

  • Manchester United v Manchester City (3.30pm)

The Manchester derby promises to be a cracking game on Sunday. United come into the game on the back of a good run of wins, but they needed them badly after a shocking start to the league season. City were unbeaten after six games but lost the next two but did return to winning ways last week at home to Brighton. Games between these two tend to produce goals and I can see that being the case here too. Back Man City to win and both teams to score at 9/4.

Good luck if you are having a bet on any of the matches in the Premier League this weekend!
