Bayern Munich v Arsenal takes place on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. Kick-off is 8pm BST in the United Kingdom, 9pm locally, for UEFA Champions League league-phase Matchday 3.
Virgin Media’s television schedule lists TNT Sports 1. That’s the remote-control question sorted; the harder one is whether Arsenal can keep Bayern away from their penalty area.

Arsenal arrive with 18 points from seven Premier League matches: six wins and one defeat. Sunday’s 1–0 victory at Nottingham Forest added another clean sheet, but it wasn’t an attacking exhibition with the ribbons on.
Noni Madueke came off the bench to score with a deflected shot in the 80th minute. The Premier League records it as Arsenal’s only effort on target, alongside their third clean sheet in four league away games. That combination matters here: Arsenal can keep a match tight, though they may need their substitutes to change it.
Napoli offered an earlier European example. Arsenal won 1–0 there on 9 September, with Martin Ødegaard scoring in the 75th minute. Napoli’s report describes an even first half, Arsenal taking greater control after the break and a late chance for Kevin De Bruyne. Arsenal earned the result without making the final minutes particularly restful.
Then came Brighton’s 3–0 win on 19 September. Pascal Groß struck from outside the box, Charalampos Kostoulas scored following a fast break, and Chema Andrés headed in after a corner. Arsenal had several different leaks to plug that afternoon.
Our reading is that Arsenal need cover behind their attacks as well as bodies in the box. Sitting deep for the whole evening would invite repeated Bayern deliveries; sending everyone forward would reopen the spaces Brighton used. The Forest result strengthens the case for patience, without wiping Brighton from the notebook.
Bayern have shown they can score through crosses, loose balls and midfield arrivals, so marking Harry Kane is only part of Arsenal’s task. Their September home wins explain the danger, even though Wednesday requires a different cast.
In the 7–0 against Union Berlin, Olise scored three, won the penalty Kane converted and crossed for Kane’s other goal. Jamal Musiala scored and supplied Olise; substitute Ismael Saibari also found the net. The full-back and centre-back couldn’t simply agree who had Kane and clock off.
The 5–0 against Bodø/Glimt made another point. It was goalless at half-time, then Musiala scored after a blocked effort. Kane headed in Olise’s free kick, while Alphonso Davies struck after a cleared corner. Bayern already led 4–0 before Bodø/Glimt’s late red card.
For Arsenal, clearing the first ball has to be followed by getting out to the next receiver. Otherwise, a good defensive intervention can become the start of another Bayern attack. That’s our tactical interpretation of those goals, rather than a prediction of Wednesday’s score.
Bayern’s October results make the picture less tidy: 2–2 at Augsburg, 3–3 away to Viking, then 6–1 at home to RB Leipzig on 17 October. Their earlier league trips brought a goalless draw at Schalke and a 2–1 win at Elversberg. Home and away have posed different questions; you can’t put every result in a blender and call it a forecast.
Olise is suspended against Arsenal, Bayern’s own preview confirms. Arsenal’s latest verified club team news here comes from the Forest match on 18 October; it confirms Declan Rice started and Martín Zubimendi returned to the bench after injury.
That changes two assumptions in the early preview. Olise’s September deliveries remain useful evidence of Bayern’s attacking patterns, but he won’t provide them on Wednesday. Rice’s September international withdrawal also isn’t a reason to list him as absent after his Forest start. The old injury list has had its day.
Arsenal also confirmed Kepa Arrizabalaga missed Forest through injury, with Illan Meslier on the bench. That report concerns Sunday, so it doesn’t settle Kepa’s availability in Munich. Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Ødegaard returned to the starting side against Forest.
Bayern’s 8 October update showed Musiala working with a fitness coach before team training following his right-thigh muscle injury. It didn’t clear him for Arsenal. His ability to receive between the lines and arrive beyond Kane matters to this matchup, but we haven’t verified his final match status.
As checked on 20 October, we don’t have a complete confirmed availability update for Wednesday from both clubs. The starting line-ups are also unconfirmed. We can assess Olise’s absence; guessing the other names would just be team-sheet bingo.
Arsenal beat Lille 3–0 and Bayern drew 3–3 at Viking on 13 October. UEFA’s results leave Arsenal with six points and Bayern with four after two matches; Arsenal have yet to concede in this league phase.
Kane scored twice after half-time in Bayern’s Viking comeback. That keeps his threat firmly in view, while conceding three gives Arsenal something to examine at the other end. A recovery makes a good story, but nobody plans the two-goal half-time deficit.
This is a league-phase match, with points at stake rather than an aggregate score. Arsenal have Everton at home on 24 October after Sunday’s trip to Forest and this visit to Munich. Bayern follow Leipzig with another home fixture here, then travel to Freiburg on 25 October.
The different schedules provide context, not proof that either side will tire or rotate. For the following evening’s European action, our Bournemouth v Milan preview covers another English club’s busy October.
Arsenal draw no bet at 3/2 is the result market we’d examine first; over 2.5 goals at 3/5 is the goals comparison. Neither price earns a recommendation just by appearing in the table. We’re keeping the trumpet in its case.
The case for Arsenal draw no bet rests on their clean sheets in Naples and against Lille, plus their ability to win narrowly at Forest. Olise’s suspension removes a proven Bayern provider. This market returns the stake on a draw; an Arsenal defeat still loses the bet. Bayern’s 6–1 against Leipzig is a fairly loud counterargument.
Over 2.5 goals fits Bayern’s recent 3–3 and 6–1 scorelines, and Brighton exposed several ways to trouble Arsenal. Against that, Arsenal’s two European clean sheets and one shot on target at Forest point towards a tighter contest. Olise’s absence and Musiala’s unresolved status also matter. We’d want the team sheets before making a firmer call on that short goals price.
The viewing details are confirmed, while the final team news still needs a check. These answers reflect the information available on 20 October 2026.
