Poker vacation packing might seem kinda tricky. But it shouldn’t be too tough. At least not when you’ve made a list of the essentials.

We’re here to do just that for you. We’ve got a list of everything you need to bring on your next poker vacation. Whether you’re planning a destination getaway to hit the card rooms or you’re renting a place so you and your friends can host a weekend full of DIY poker parties, we’ve got you covered.

Poker vacation packing: hosting games yourself

buying a poker table

There’s a different list of things you need if you’re hosting a games with friends as opposed to going to a load of casinos.

We’re going to run you through the absolute essentials…

Cards

You’ll need a few decks of cards if you’re going to be playing with your buddies when you’re away. We’ve got some extra cool ideas here.

Chips

After cards, chips are easily the most important thing you can bring on your trip. We particularly dig these sets.

Poker table

Now this is not an essential. But you’re going to want to make sure the place that you rent has a big enough table. It doesn’t have to be a dedicated poker table. However, if the place you’re staying isn’t equipped with a table big enough, you could look to rent a proper poker table to suit your needs. Or if it’s a road trip, bring your own.

Gifts

Everyone loves a party favor. If you’re hosting, it’s an extremely nice thing to pick up a little token for your guests. And if it’s someone’s birthday when you go, why not get something even more special? We’ve got a lot of ideas, from small gifts to blowout gestures.

And if you’re going elsewhere, playing in the big bad world, there are other things you need to consider bringing. But we’ve got you covered there too.

Poker playing outfits

Think carefully about the clothes you pack for your poker vacation. They’ve got to adhere to the dress code, be comfortable and make you feel confident. Not sure where to start? Take a look at our guide to dressing for poker.

Do your research

If you’re going to be playing with a load of stranges in some new card room, you want to make sure you know your stuff. Before you go, listen to some strategy podcasts. It’s also a good idea to make sure you have your favorite poker books packed, so you can refer to them during your trip (but not at the table, dummy!). And make sure that you have the latest poker news sites, along with some crucial reading from your favorite sites (like this one!).

And don’t forget to practice online before you go

Wherever you’re heading on your poker vacation, treat yourself to a little online session after you’ve packed those bags. One of our favorite online poker rooms is bet365.
